Aeroméxico launches new services to Barcelona and Paris

Mexican flag carrier Aeroméxico announced on November 10, 2025, the launch of two new routes linking its home country and Europe.

Starting on March 28, 2026, Aeroméxico will operate six times a week between its base at Mexico City International Airport Benito Juárez (MEX) and Barcelona-El Prat (BCN).

A few days later, on April 13, 2026, the Mexican airline will also launch a new thrice-weekly nonstop service between Monterrey (MTY) and Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG).

This service will complement Aeroméxico’s existing daily service between Mexico City and the French capital. Through CDG, Aeroméxico passengers can connect with the broad range of destinations across Europe and beyond offered by fellow SkyTeam member Air France.

Paris will be the second destination in Europe offered by Aeroméxico from Monterrey, after Madrid-Barajas (MAD).

Spanish airline Iberia is also planning to launch its own nonstop service between Madrid and Monterrey, which is Mexico’s third largest city and an important industrial hub, in June 2026.

The Barcelona route marks the return of the Mexican flag carrier to the Catalan capital. Aeroméxico has previously operated the route intermittently without ever managing to consolidate it.

The last time the route was operated by Aeromexico was between 2019 and 2020, when it was discontinued because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, there have been several announcements regarding a possible resumption of the service, but these failed to materialize.

Aeroméxico will compete on the Barcelona to Mexico City route with Emirates. Since 2018, the Dubai-based carrier has been operating a daily fifth-freedom flight between Barcelona and Mexico City. This service, which is operated by a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, is a continuation of one of the daily services Emirates operates between Dubai (DXB) and Barcelona.

Aeroméxico will use Boeing 787 aircraft on both the Mexico City to Barcelona and Monterrey to Paris routes.
