India’s online travel agencies compete on price. Scapia is competing on your credit card statement.
Bengaluru-based travel fintech Scapia’s model combines payments, rewards, and travel booking inside a closed ecosystem available only to its cardholders. Its core product is a co-branded credit card, which it issues through Indian banks, allowing customers to earn travel rewards through everyday spending and redeem them on Scapia’s own booking platform.
Scapia recently raised $63 million, bringing total funding to $135 million, and tripling its valuation to over $539 million.
Access to Scapia’s travel marketplace, which includes flights, hotels, trains, buses, visa services, and travel merchandise, is closed to non-cardholders. The card carries zero foreign exchange markup, airport privileges beyond traditional lounge access, and the option to convert travel bookings into three-month no-cost installments.
