Delta Sets Firm Launch Date For Its Atlanta–Riyadh A350 Flights

Delta Air Lines has confirmed the exact launch date for its long-anticipated nonstop service between Atlanta and Riyadh, marking a major expansion of its Middle East network. The route will connect Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport with King Khalid International Airport in Saudi Arabia’s capital. Flights are scheduled to begin on October 23, 2026, and will be operated by the Airbus A350-900. You can already book your tickets on the official Delta website, with prices starting at $921 (one way).

The Atlanta–Riyadh route was first announced two months ago, when Delta revealed plans to begin service sometime in October 2026. At the time, the airline did not provide a specific start date, leaving schedules and operational details open. That has now changed, with the route officially loaded into schedules and distribution systems. The service represents Delta’s first-ever nonstop flight to Saudi Arabia and a significant milestone for the carrier’s long-haul network growth.

What We Know About The New Flight

According to schedule data published by AeroRoutes, Delta will launch the Atlanta– Riyadh service on October 23, 2026, using the Airbus A350-900 widebody aircraft. The flight will operate year-round, offering nonstop connectivity between Delta’s largest hub and one of the Middle East’s most important capitals. The A350-900 is expected to feature Delta One suites, Premium Select, Comfort+, and Main Cabin seating, consistent with Delta’s long-haul international configuration. The flight duration is about 13 hours.

This route will provide Delta with a direct presence in Saudi Arabia for the first time, significantly expanding its Middle East footprint beyond existing services to destinations such as Tel Aviv and partnership connections via Europe. Atlanta’s role as Delta’s primary global hub makes it a logical launch point, offering extensive one-stop connectivity across the US, Latin America, and beyond. The service is also expected to support growing business, tourism, and cultural exchange traffic between the two countries, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals.

Ahmed Al-Khateeb, Minister of Tourism for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, told Delta News Hub:

“Delta’s new nonstop flights between Atlanta and Riyadh mark a significant milestone in strengthening global connectivity between our nations and will open new doors for tourism and cultural exchange while driving business and innovation.”

The Importance Of The New Route

Delta originally announced plans for the Atlanta–Riyadh route in October, confirming that service would begin in October 2026 but stopping short of naming an exact date. The October 23 launch now brings clarity for travelers, corporate customers, and tour operators planning long-term schedules.

The choice of the Airbus A350-900 underscores Delta’s emphasis on fuel efficiency and passenger comfort on ultra-long-haul routes. The A350 offers lower fuel burn and emissions compared to older widebody types, aligning with Delta’s sustainability commitments while providing the range required for the roughly 7,000-mile sector. For passengers, the aircraft’s quieter cabin and improved comfort are particularly appealing on flights lasting more than ten hours.

Riyadh has emerged as a rapidly growing global aviation hub, driven by significant government investment in tourism, infrastructure, and international air service. Saudi Arabia has been actively courting foreign airlines as part of its broader economic diversification strategy, seeking to boost inbound tourism and global business links. Delta’s entry into the market complements this push, adding a major US carrier to Riyadh’s expanding list of long-haul operators.

The Expanding Market

For Delta, the Atlanta–Riyadh route fits into a broader pattern of selective long-haul expansion focused on underserved or strategically essential markets. Riyadh, with its growing demand for both corporate and leisure travel, aligns closely with that approach.

The launch also highlights intensifying competition among global airlines for access to the Saudi market. While Gulf carriers have long dominated regional connectivity, Saudi Arabia’s liberalization efforts are creating new opportunities for foreign airlines to establish direct services. Delta’s nonstop flight offers a differentiated product, particularly for US-based travelers seeking to avoid connections through Europe or the Gulf.

As Delta refines its long-haul strategy, the Atlanta–Riyadh route stands out as one of its most significant international additions in recent years, signaling Delta’s long-term commitment to global network expansion.
