The Ink Business Premier® Card is one of the best business credit cards out there, especially for those who make large purchases and want to earn cash back. While this is part of the Chase Ink Business card portfolio, it’s the only card in the collection that only accrues cash back, and not travel rewards points.

The good news is that the Chase Ink Premier Card has a pretty incomparable return on spending as far as business cards go, which is why you’ll want to consider it. This card continues to offer a solid welcome bonus, so I’d like to go over the details of that, including eligibility requirements.

What is the current Chase Ink Premier Card welcome bonus?

The Chase Ink Premier Card currently has a welcome offer of $1,000 cash back after spending $10,000 within the first three months. Let me emphasize that unlike other Chase Ink cards, this card accrues straight cash back, and not rewards points that can be moved to airline and hotel partners.

This is a solid welcome bonus, especially when you consider this is actual cash, though it’s still not the most exciting offer in the world. Still, this is a card you ultimately get because you’re looking to earn cash back on your spending in the long run, and not simply because of the bonus.

Redeem your cash back for some great trips

Who is eligible for the Chase Ink Premier Card bonus?

When it comes to getting approved for the Chase Ink Premier Card and earning the welcome bonus, what rules should you be aware of? Well, there are the card specific policies, and then also the more generic Chase policies. When you pull up the application, you’ll see the following terms:

The new cardmember bonus may not be available to you if you have ever had this card. We may also consider factors pertinent to your business in determining your bonus eligibility.

As you can see, officially the welcome bonus may not be available to you if you currently have this card, or if you’ve had it in the past. However, eligibility for the card (including the bonus) is unrelated to whether you have any other Chase business card.

In other words, you’re eligible for this card, including the bonus, if you have cards like the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card (review), Ink Business Cash® Credit Card (review), Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card (review), or Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ (review).

Beyond that, there are some general Chase rules to be aware of:

  • This card may be subjected to Chase’s 5/24 rule, which is to say that you may not be approved if you’ve opened five or more new card accounts in the past 24 months (this excludes many business cards); however, there are increasingly data points that this rule is no longer consistently enforced
  • It’s generally considered a best practice to not apply for more than one Chase business credit card every 30 days, so I’d recommend observing that limit when applying

While Chase business cards can be tough to get approved for, they offer lucrative rewards structures and perks, so it’s worth the effort, in my opinion. Furthermore, it’s nice how the eligibility requirements aren’t too strict in terms of qualifying for the bonus.

Spend cash back from the bonus however you’d like

Why the Chase Ink Premier Card is worth it

The Chase Ink Premier Card isn’t for everyone, but for the right type of consumer, it’s pretty unbeatable. The card has a $195 annual fee (with no extra cost for authorized users), and the main reason you’ll want to get this card is because of the rewards structure.

The Chase Ink Premier offers 5% cash back on travel purchased through Chase Travel℠, 2.5% cash back on purchases of $5,000 or more, and 2% cash back on all other purchases, with no foreign transaction fees.

Admittedly you’re paying a fairly steep annual fee for a card that simply earns you cash back, but if you frequently make large purchases, earning 2.5% cash back is pretty unrivaled. That’s more than the interchange fees paid for many kinds of transactions, so that’s pretty awesome. Even on purchases smaller than $5,000, you’re still earning a very competitive 2% cash back.

If you can’t decide if you can justify the annual fee, consider doing a direct comparison of a 2% vs. 2.5% cash back card. You’d earn back that $195 annual fee in incremental rewards for $39,000 of spending annually, since that’s the point at which 0.5% back reaches $195. For businesses that spend a lot, the math very much checks out here, in my opinion.

The card also offers many other useful perks, ranging from primary collision damage waiver coverage (CDW), to trip cancellation and trip interruption insurance, to travel and emergency assistance services, to purchase protection, to cell phone protection, and more.

Chase Ink Premier Card welcome bonus FAQs

What is the highest bonus offer for the Chase Ink Premier?

Currently the best publicly available welcome bonus on the Chase Ink Premier is for $1,000 cash back upon completing minimum spending. It’s possible we see a better limited time offer on the card at some point in the future, but right now that’s as good as it gets.

Who is eligible for the Chase Ink Premier bonus?

The Chase Ink Premier generally follows a “once in a lifetime” rule when it comes to earning the bonus, so you may not be eligible for the bonus on the card if you have or have had this card. However, eligibility is unrelated to having had any other Chase card.

Can you get the Chase Ink Premier if you don’t have a business?

The Chase Ink Premier is a business card, so it follows the same rules as most Chase business cards. It’s possible to apply for the card as a sole proprietorship, in which case you’d use your Social Security Number as the business ID during the application process. More people are eligible for business cards than you may assume.

What is the Chase Ink Premier annual fee?

The Chase Ink Premier has a $195 annual fee, and there’s no extra cost to add authorized users.

What is the Chase Ink Premier rewards structure?

The Chase Ink Premier offers 5% cash back on travel purchased through Chase Travel, 2.5% cash back on purchases of $5,000 or more, and 2% cash back on all other purchases, with no foreign transaction fees.

Bottom line

The Chase Ink Premier Card is one of the best cash back business cards out there, as it offers up to 2.5% cash back on everyday spending. While the card has a $195 annual fee, it’s easy enough to come out way ahead if you have a business where you frequently make large purchases of $5,000+

This isn’t a card I’d get exclusively for the welcome bonus, but the card is offering a bonus of $1,000 cash back, which is a great incentive to apply, and will more than cover the annual fee for five years. The only catch with the Ink Premier is that it’s the only Chase Ink card that doesn’t potentially earn travel rewards points. So if that interests you, I’d instead recommend something like the Ink Business Preferred Card.

Do you have the Chase Ink Premier Card, and if so, what has your experience been?
