The F-35 Lightning II stealth fighter program of the US Armed Forces recently got an unwelcome update. Lot 18 and 19 contracts for the F-35’s F135 engines have been delayed six months to early 2026. The fifth-generation fighter developed by Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works division has revolutionized the air power of the US Air Force, US Navy, US Marines, and a growing list of 19 allied nations. However, its bloated cost combined with performance below promise has brought harsh criticism. Over Budget & Behind Schedule Credit: US Air Force Raytheon-owned Pratt & Whitney makes the immensely powerful F135 afterburning turbofan engine…

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), otherwise known as SeaTac, is one of the world’s most important hubs today. It is also one of the busiest and most popular airfields on the West Coast of the United States. Home to the booming Alaska Airlines, the airport hosts numerous international carriers as well that fly even longer itineraries than Alaska does. We will go down the list of the absolute longest flights from SeaTac scheduled between January 1, 2025, to January 1, 2026. Thanks to data from Cirium.com, we break it down by carrier, aircraft, as well as distance. So let’s get down…
The Pentagon has reportedly approved plans for the US Navy’s next-generation carrier-based stealth fighter, paving the way for the service to select between Boeing and Northrop Grumman to develop the jet known as F/A-XX. The new fighter will replace the Navy’s aging fleet of F/A-18E/F Super Hornets, which have been in service for decades. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth personally signed off on advancing the program last week, US officials told Reuters. The Navy could announce its choice of a program winner as soon as this week, marking the culmination of years of design work under the service’s Next Generation Air Dominance…
For many airlines, establishing a presence in the Americas plays a key role in network strategy and development. While the US is typically seen as the most important market on this front, the Americas as a whole offer plenty to international airlines, with Canada to the north and Latin America to the South also being home to many compelling international destinations. Turkish Airlines covers all of these bases. In a recent interview with Simple Flying, Ahmet Bolat, who serves as the Chair of the Board and Executive Committee at Turkish Airlines, gave an insight into the importance of the Americas…
Four retired GoAir Airbus A320neo aircraft, now dismantled and recycled by TARMAC Aerosave, have generated around 5,600 high-demand parts for the aftermarket. The four A320neoss were acquired earlier this year by aircraft asset specialist AerFin in partnership with a Middle Eastern investor and contracted to TARMAC Aerosave for teardown. On October 6, 2025, TARMAC Aerosave confirmed that the project had been successfully completed at its aircraft maintenance, storage and recycling center in Tarbes, France. According to AerFin, as a result of the teardown each Airbus A320neo will release around 1,400 high-demand parts for industry use. The British firm also declared…
Before I get into this post, let me state that I have a lot of respect for flight attendants. A majority of them do a great job, and they work long and hard hours, dealing with a lot of complicated passengers, and often they’re not well paid. So I don’t want to in any way diminish what they do to keep the industry running. That being said, in this post I’d like to talk more broadly about the normalization of really rude flight attendant behavior, brought to mind by an email I received from a reader. Admittedly a small minority…
German authorities have deployed a laser installation at Munich Airport (MUC) following multiple drone sightings at the facility since the start of the month. The hub is one of several across Europe to have faced operational disruption of this nature in recent times, including multiple days last week. Now, those responsible for protecting Munich Airport are hoping that the newly-deployed laser installation at the Bavarian hub will be able to prevent further reoccurrences, or minimize disruption in the event that the drone issues rear their ugly head once again. Let’s take a closer look at the situation. Multiple Days Of…
Wizz Air intends to conclude the engine-related grounding of its Airbus aircraft by the end of 2027, but has not yet seen any improvement in the Pratt & Whitney supply issues that have kept dozens of its jets out of active service, the airline’s Chief Financial Officer Ian Malin has said. Speaking at the International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading (ISTAT) conference in Prague, Malin noted that the number of Wizz Air aircraft grounded, due to prolonged waiting times for inspections and repairs of Pratt & Whitney’s geared turbofan (GTF) engines, has decreased to 38 from a peak of nearly…
