United Airlines has confirmed that its frequency from Denver to Anchorage will rise to a record four flights a day next summer. It’ll be double the offering of summer 2025. It is a competitive response to Southwest’s entry next year. It will be interesting to see if and how Southwest responds. United has served the route since 1994. Until now, the Star Alliance member’s maximum frequency was three flights per day. However, this only occurred for a limited period in July and August 2016-2018. Its operation in 2026 will be markedly different. United’s Denver-Anchorage Flights Rise To Four Daily Credit: GCMap…
Korean Air has signed an agreement with Archer Aviation to introduce the company’s Midnight electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft in South Korea, marking one of the first major airline commitments to advanced air mobility in Asia. Announced on October 20, 2025, the partnership gives Korean Air exclusive rights to commercialize Archer’s Midnight aircraft in Korea. The deal includes the potential purchase of up to 100 aircraft that could be deployed across a range of applications — beginning with government use and eventually expanding to commercial passenger services. According to the companies, the collaboration aligns with South Korea’s national strategy to accelerate adoption of eVTOL technology. The country’s Ministry of…
But this runs into the perennial question of generalists versus specialists. Should counter-drone, or C-UAS, be a skill taught across the U.S. Army, with every soldier a potential asset for air defense? Or should C-UAS be assigned to highly trained specialists? The service needs to create a specialized C-UAS Military Occupational Specialty, or MOS, argues one Army officer.“Dedicated CUAS MOSs will focus on defensive operations by defending maneuver formations from enemy kinetic UAS [unmanned aerial systems] and ISR [intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance] assets,” wrote Capt. Peter Clifton in a September essay for the Army’s Air Defense Artillery Journal. “This will…
A Boeing 747 operating a cargo flight on behalf of Emirates ran off the runway in Hong Kong and ended up in the water, and sadly there are a couple of casualties. While I first covered this shortly after the accident, we’ve learned more details with each hour, so I’d like to go over everything we know. Air ACT Boeing 747 veers off Hong Kong runway This incident happened at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) a little before 4AM local time on Monday, October 20, 2025. It involves Air ACT flight EK9788, which was operating from Dubai World Central (DWC).…
In 2025, one airline continues to set the standard for business-class luxury and passenger comfort – it is Qatar Airways. Fresh off another major win at the World Airline Awards in 2025, the Doha-based carrier has once again been crowned the world’s best business class, earning particular praise for what many consider the most comfortable seat in the skies: the Qsuite. As global air travel rebounds, the battle for premium passengers has never been fiercer, especially in the Middle East. Comfort, privacy, and personal space now define value more than ever, and Qatar Airways’ dedication to perfecting the onboard experience…
American Airlines’ flight attendant union is expressing frustration over an upcoming change to the company’s healthcare plan, as flagged by PYOK. I’m curious to see how this plays out. American angers union with 2026 healthcare changes The Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA) isn’t happy about some changes that American is making to employee healthcare coverage for 2026. Specifically, this impacts members who rely on GLP-1 medications for their health. Beginning January 1, 2026, the company’s health plan will only cover GLP-1 medications for individuals with type 2 diabetes. This means that unless flight attendants have diabetes, they will no longer be…
On the morning of Monday, October 20, a widespread Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage disrupted hundreds of sites and apps worldwide, including those used by airlines, banks, social media platforms and many of Amazon’s own services. This incident originated in AWS’s US-East-1 region, which encompasses most of the Northeastern United States. Amazon traced the core issue at hand to internal problems affecting EC2 network and load-balancer functions, with most services at least partially restored by midday Eastern Time. Airlines also reported website and check-in glitches, with apps like Fortnite, Snapchat, and Duolingo, in addition to a number of financial platforms,…
The U.S. Army is slated to begin its first integration of an unmanned ground vehicle, or UGV, produced by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency into an autonomous breaching demonstration at the end of this month. The 36th Engineering Brigade, which is preparing for the upcoming Machine Assisted Rugged Soldier, or MARS, autonomous demonstration later this month, will use the DARPA RACER Heavy Platform vehicle for mine clearing by pairing it with a M58 MICLIC — a rocket-projected mine clearing line charge used to clear direct passages for combat personnel through minefields. The open-source defense intelligence outlet Janes was the…
