The Boeing 777 is one of the world’s most versatile widebody twinjet airliners, with carriers across the globe able to put it to use either on premium-heavy ultra-long-haul routes or to provide extra capacity on higher-density sectors. In the former category, data from Cirium, an aviation analytics company, shows that four airlines currently fly the type to the US on routes of 8,000+ miles. These sectors originate in Asia and the Middle East, and connect these regions with destinations on both the East Coast and the West Coast of the United States of America, and, indeed, in between as well.…

When Boeing unveiled the 777X, the aviation world immediately took notice. As the latest evolution of the highly successful 777 family, the new aircraft promised game-changing innovations: longer range, increased passenger capacity, better fuel efficiency, and a futuristic new wing design with folding wingtips. Nearly a decade later, the 777X still hasn’t entered service. Despite the delays, its potential remains strong enough to warrant a very close look from Airbus and its A350 program. The 777X is the world’s largest twin-engine commercial jet. It includes two passenger variants —the 777-9 and the smaller, longer-range 777-8 —and a freighter version based…

The route follows a trend set by the airline for offering seasonal long-haul routes from the UK to winter sun destinations, with Phuket joining the likes of the Maldives, Cape Town, and Cancun, the latter of which only began in late October 2025. The airline also serves several Caribbean destinations as well as Dubai, offering year-round sunshine breaks.  The UK…

Between October 29 and November 2, American Airlines, JetBlue, Southwest, and United Airlines started or resumed 11 routes. The condition for inclusion is that none of the markets could have been served since January 1, 2025. They are likely to be in my next celebratory Weekly Routes article (see the most recent edition). Two of the routes are long-haul: United from both Chicago O’Hare and Washington Dulles to Tel Aviv. For obvious reasons, they were last operated in October 2023. According to OAG data, its resumption means the Star Alliance member has 28% of all US-Tel Aviv passenger flights in…
