On Friday, October 3, the International Civil Aviation Organization ( ICAO) rejected a proposal by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to raise the mandatory retirement age for commercial airline pilots. The proposal, debated during ICAO’s 42nd General Assembly in Montreal, sought to extend the global age limit for multi-crew international operations from 65 to 67. In the early years of commercial aviation, the mandatory retirement age was set as low as 45 before being raised to 60 in the 1940s. It later increased to 65 in 2006 under updated ICAO standards. At first glance, the Boeing 737 MAXlooks like any other member of the famous 737 family — sleek, efficient, and unmistakably Boeing. Yet, beneath its familiar silhouette lies one of the most significant structural modifications in the aircraft’s history — the heightening of its landing gear. This wasn’t a simple aesthetic tweak; it was a necessity born from engineering, efficiency, and evolution. The decision to raise the 737 MAX wasn’t just about fitting new engines; it represented a deeper challenge in modern aircraft design, balancing decades-old frameworks with 21st-century technology. Everyone knows that the world’s longest flight by great circle distance is from New York to Singapore. At over 19 hours, 8,288 NM, and 15,349 KM, this route connects the largest and most important city in the Americas to one of Asia’s strongest financial centers. The flight is so long that it requires a special version of the Airbus A350-900 (the A350-900ULR) with extra fuel capacity and only 161 seats in a configuration that only features business class and premium class. Except, this is the world’s longest nonstop flight. There are, however, some one-stop routes that carry the same flight…

There’s so much nostalgia wrapped up in the public’s imagination surrounding the so-called “Golden Age” of space exploration in the 1960s and 1970s, when mankind went to the Moon and developed revolutionary aircraft like Concorde, the SR-71 Blackbird and the Space Shuttle. But what many miss is that aerospace’s true Golden Age is beginning right now — and, according to its leading pioneers, it’s quickly reaching escape velocity.  Jeff Bezos added fuel to that idea when he predicted that data centers will one day operate in space. Speaking at Italian Tech Week in Turin, the Amazon founder and Blue Origin…
