European low-cost carrier Wizz Air has said that it expects to see continued disruption until the end of 2027 due to Pratt & Whitney (P&W) engine issues. Speaking at a conference on Tuesday, the airline’s chief financial officer described the situation as “extremely frustrating”, and emphasized that there is “no absolute guarantee” that the entire fleet will be fully operational by that date. Reuters reports that Wizz Air currently has 38 A320neo and A321neo aircraft parked for maintenance of their (P&W) engines. While this is down from a high of 60 aircraft a year ago, it still represents nearly a…

Unit 32785 had flown to […] source
Air travel is currently being disrupted nationwide as the US government shutdown continues to worsen longstanding air traffic control shortages. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported staffing shortfalls at a dozen facilities across the country on Monday. Both Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Denver International Airport (DEN) saw average delays exceeding 30 minutes, and Burbank Airport (BUR) even had no controllers in the tower for five hours and saw traffic directed remotely. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy cited an uptick in controllers calling in sick (normal around this time of year) as compounding issues related to the shutdown. He…

Breeze Airways continues its expansion across all business segments, including route network, fleet, and financial performance. To stay competitive and make ends meet, the premium low-cost carrier (LCC) is focusing on underserved, smaller markets by operating 100–150-seat aircraft. And it seems to be working. In Q4 2024, the airline recorded its first-ever profitable quarter, generating over $200 million in revenue. In early 2026, Breeze will take another major step forward by launching its first international flights. Looking ahead, Breeze’s chief executive officer, David Neeleman, shared in an interview with Bloomberg that the US low-cost airline could potentially operate a fleet…

When boarding a flight in the United States, many travelers are surprised to learn that the jet whisking them across the country and abroad might be older than they are. It’s not uncommon for aircraft in the fleets of American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, or United Airlines to have rolled off assembly lines in the early 1990s or even the late 1980s. This raises an important question: Why do US airlines continue to operate aircraft well into their 30s? The answer reveals a fascinating intersection of economics, engineering, and trust. While “old” airplanes might sound unsafe to the average passenger,…
The Pentagon’s F-35 program is facing new delays in the delivery of its Pratt & Whitney engines, a revelation that comes just days after a major new F-35 production contract was finalized with Lockheed Martin. According to the F-35 Joint Program Office (JPO), contracts for Lots 18 and 19 of the Pratt & Whitney F135 engine will not be finalized until spring 2026, about six months later than planned. The JPO confirmed the revised schedule in a statement to Air & Space Forces Magazine. The change affects hundreds of engines destined for the next batch of F-35s ordered by the…
