When it comes to the ‘big three’ US legacy carriers, namely American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines, there are some things that these operators do similarly, and others with contrasting approaches. A notable example of the latter is the use of single-aisle jets on long-haul flights. For American, this is set to become an increasingly important part of its transatlantic strategy, thanks to the arrival of the Airbus A321XLR. In recent times, the carrier and its pilots have been preparing extensively for the type’s launch at the airline, around which there is strong anticipation. Its SkyTeam rival Delta,…

London-Heathrow Airport (LHR) has reported its busiest ever September, rounding off what it describes as a “record-breaking summer”.  On October 13, 2025, Heathrow declared that it had welcomed 7.4 million passengers during September 2025, a “clear sign that the airport is the UK’s hub for global travel”.  The record-breaking month was achieved despite the Collins Aerospace IT issue that triggered long queues, delays and cancellations at some of Europe’s busiest airports.  Heathrow CEO Thomas Woldbye said: “This summer at Heathrow was one to be celebrated. During the recent Q3 2025 Delta Air Lines earnings call, a senior executive at the airline made some interesting comments about the types of planes the airline will fly across the Atlantic, which can only be described as a swipe at United. However, do the comments actually make sense? Let’s take a look… thanks to Matt for flagging this. Delta’s strange stance on long haul narrow body flying During Delta’s recent earnings call, Sheila Kahyaoglu, an Analyst at Jeffries, asked Delta President Glen Hauenstein the following about transatlantic flying: “How do we think about Atlantic capacity next year, Glen, you…

When you open a live flight tracker and see dozens of aircraft gliding across the Atlantic in perfectly parallel lines, it’s easy to imagine they’re all flying straight down the middle of invisible sky-high highways. In reality, most of them are flying slightly off those lines, sometimes a mile or two (1.6–3.7 kilometers) to the right. This isn’t a navigation mistake or a clever shortcut. It’s a deliberate, standardized safety measure known as the Strategic Lateral Offset Procedure (SLOP). It’s one of those behind-the-scenes practices that quietly make long-haul flights among the safest forms of transport in history. In this…

If you still think air cargo booking means being chained to your desk – or worse, your inbox – you’re already behind. Forwarders today aren’t just quoting in offices. They’re quoting from home offices, airport lounges, and, yes, taxis stuck in traffic on the way to client meetings. The reality? If your cargo booking system can’t keep up with where you work, it’s slowing you down. And in freight, speed doesn’t just win. It widens the gap. Booking Doesn’t Stop at the Office Door A single lane’s rate can swing 80% in a week. Sales teams already spend 43% of…
