Earlier in September, Simple Flying reported that the US government was considering dropping a proposal that would have required airlines to compensate passengers for significant delays. On Friday, November 14, the Trump administration confirmed that it is formally withdrawing the plan. The proposal, which was announced last year under the Biden administration, would have required airlines to pay passengers $200–$300 for domestic flight delays of at least three hours and up to $775 for longer disruptions. Last month, a group of 18 Democratic senators urged the administration to keep the plan in place, arguing that airlines should be responsible for…
When it comes to flying in comfort from the Americas to East Asia, two airlines stand out at the forefront. The duo in focus is Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific, but the question is which one of these two world-class airlines comes out on top? Using data from Cirium for November 2025, we will analyze routes, schedules, as well as each airline’s fleet serving this niche market. It has been an exceptional year of record for tourism and air travel to Asia in 2025. Not only does the volume of flyers reach record levels in the wake of the resurgent…
As of early 2025, a total of 613 Eurofighter Typhoons have been built and delivered. Airbus also says 680 have been ordered worldwide since the beginning of the program. Official sources have been updated to show that the total number on the order books has reached 741 to date. The production line will be busy for some years still, so there’s still plenty of time for that number to get even bigger. The program began 31 years ago as a collective defense consortium that included Airbus, BAE Systems, and Leonardo Aerospace. These three companies and the four partner nations that…
The Airbus A380 is the highest capacity passenger aircraft and one of two iconic jumbo jets. What many people don’t know is that it could also have been one of the world’s highest-capacity cargo airliners, because Airbus almost developed an A380F. The manufacturer launched the A380F in 2001 and soon amassed orders for 27 aircraft and a further 20 options. Another option considered was a modular A380 with both a passenger and cargo deck, adjustable for different requirements. However, the jet disappeared from its website in 2013, never to return. Learn more about how market inviability, fundamental design flaws, and…
The Boeing 777-300ER is a sub-variant of the 777-300, modified to have a higher maximum takeoff weight and increased fuel capacity. It also features aerodynamic improvements that reduce fuel burn. The combination of these adaptations yields impressive improvements in range. As a result, it has become a popular variant of Boeing’s iconic twinjet large widebody aircraft. Emirates has the largest 777-300ER fleet in the world. In this article, discover the specifics of this fleet, where they fly, and what passengers can find onboard. We then finish with thoughts on how the Boeing 777X is set to update and replace the…
Despite its age, and the advent of next-generation narrowbody families such as the Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX series, Delta Air Lines remains a big fan of the Boeing 757, and is keen to hang onto these popular aircraft. With more than 100 examples of the type in its fleet, it isn’t going anywhere soon. Delta Air Lines flies these twinjets on a wide variety of routes, and, while they have primarily been relegated to domestic duties, certain foreign destinations also see the type. Using data from Cirium, an aviation analytics company, let’s take a closer look and see…

Air Algerie has recently become the world’s newest operator of the Airbus A330neo, after taking delivery of its first A330-900 model. This jet is the first of eight aircraft on order by the carrier. The widebody marks a major step in modernizing the flag carrier’s long-haul fleet and deepening its relationship with Airbus, with the aircraft configured with around 308 seats across three cabins. The jet introduces Air Algerie’s most competitive onboard product to date, and it is powered by fuel-efficient Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines. The new aircraft type will support growth from Algiers on longer-haul markets, including additional transatlantic…
Here’s a topic that I figured would be interesting to discuss — which airlines have the most consistently excellent flight attendants? Of course the single most important thing an airline can do is transport you safely between two points, ideally in a timely fashion. However, beyond that, there’s huge variance in the quality of airlines, with service being a major differentiating factor. In this post I’d like to discuss what makes for great inflight service, and which airlines offer the best service. There are no right or wrong answers, but just opinions and experiences. What makes for great inflight service…
Middle-Eastern airline bohemouth, Emirates, is planning to expand its Airbus A380 fleet from 95 aircraft today to up to 110 by the end of next year. As reported by AviationWeek, the Dubai-based carrier is already retrofitting a number of its double-deckers with upgraded premium cabins, including the introduction of Premium Economy (which already features on a number of its other aircraft). While Airbus has stopped manufacturing the Airbus A380, Emirates remains the largest operator of the aircraft. The airline had hoped to retire a number of the A380 already; however, due to the ongoing delays for the 777X, Emirates has…
