Since 2022, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines have dominated US airline industry profits by doubling down on premium seats, spend-based loyalty programs, and expansive international networks. Airport hub dominance in major metropolitan areas allows these carriers to manage capacity and dominate pricing. Premium demand, buoyed by wealthy leisure travelers and a strong stock market, has turned first and business class cabins into the airline’s highest-margin products. Loyalty has been the airlines’ principal revenue stream, with Delta’s American Express revenue and United’s MileagePlus revenue both continuing to rise. American Airlines has a similar scale, but it cannot monetize its markets…
IndiGo has finalized a firm order for 30 additional Airbus A350-900 aircraft, converting a Memorandum of Understanding signed in June 2025 into a binding agreement. The announcement, made by Airbus and IndiGo on October 17, 2025, brings IndiGo’s total A350 commitments to 60 aircraft as the airline prepares to expand into long-haul international markets. Airbus said the order marks a significant step in IndiGo’s international growth strategy, providing additional range and efficiency for its planned expansion into new global destinations. Deliveries are expected to begin later this decade, though neither company disclosed a detailed schedule. “Today is a special day for IndiGo as we solidify our commitment to expanding our international footprint and…
“I would never have asked for you if you weren’t good,” George Patton addressed the U.S. Army’s first Black tankers in an impassioned speech in October 1944. “I have nothing but the best in my army. I don’t care what color you are as long as you go out and kill those Kraut sons of bitches. Everyone has their eyes on you and is expecting great things of you. Most of all your race is looking forward to your success. Don’t let them down and damn you, don’t leave me down!” Such was the 761st Tank Battalion’s introduction to the…
European low-cost carrier easyJet is expanding its presence in Africa. To support its growth in the region, the UK-based airline plans to open a new base in Marrakech, Morocco. easyJet will move three aircraft to the new base in the spring of 2026, marking its first base outside Europe. easyJet already has a considerable presence at Moroccan airports. The carrier currently operates flights to five airports, including Marrakech (RAK), Agadir (AGA), Rabat (RBA), Essaouira (ESU), and Tangier (TNG). Alongside the opening of the new base, easyJet will also launch four new routes to Morocco. These will include services from Hamburg,…
“…The Airmen that work on the flight line can turn around to the shelf, grab the part, put it in the airplane, and now it’s going to perhaps be several more days before that jet needs to be maintained again. And that all the time where it’s sitting, waiting for that part, is downtime where we can’t use the aircraft to train. So that investment is really important to backfill the shelves with parts…” Source: The US Air Force’s next Chief of Staff nominee says pilots are flying too little to maintain proficiency, citing chronic issues with spare parts, aging…

From 2022 (YouTube Edition): Jenny, I’ve Got Your Number… Among the magnificent antique aircraft on display at EAA’s AirVenture 2022 was a 1918 Curtiss Jenny painstakingly constructed to Curtiss’s original specifications by the Experimental Aircraft Association’s Chapter 1414 in cooperation with the Vintage Wings and Wheels Museum. The two organizations, both of which hail from the village of Poplar Grove in north-central Illinois, set about the project in service of a noble, joint ambition to build a flying aircraft representative of aviation’s iconic early days.

Airlines will sometimes try to sell you roundabout routings, and I can’t help but share one that gave me a bit of a chuckle. While I won’t be flying it this time around, it’s definitely some inspiration for a future review trip… Miami to Nassau via Port of Spain and Kingston?! I need to fly between Miami (MIA) and Nassau (NAS) for a quick upcoming trip, which is a short 184-mile flight, even shorter than my typical 204-mile flight to Tampa (TPA). The route is well served by American (among other carriers), so my obvious assumption was that I was…
