Cathay Group has placed an order with Airbus for two additional A350F freighters, bringing the Hong Kong-based airline’s total commitment to eight of the new-generation cargo aircraft. The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is calling for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to rethink wet runway landing guidance following a spate of overruns. On May 26, 2026, the NTSB published several recommendations in a report entitled ‘Accounting for the Progressive Decrease in Runway Friction Associated with Increasing Rainfall Intensity’. According to the report, the new NTSB recommendations result from investigations into 11 runway overrun accidents and incidents over a 15-year period (2008–2022) that occurred after an aircraft landed on wet runways. October 2025 saw the unveiling of Magnifica Air, a new premium airline project for the United States.  The proposed new carrier, expected to launch no sooner than Q3 2027, aims to ride the growing popularity of luxury leisure travel in the US.  As yet, not much is known about Magnifica other than the type of aircraft it plans to operate, namely ACJ220-300 and ACJ321neos, the executive version of these popular airliner models. For the next portion of my two-part birthday trip to the Golden Triangle, we flew Thai Airways’ Airbus A321neo business class on the 65-minute flight from Bangkok (BKK) to Chiang Rai (CEI).
