Cathay Group has placed an order with Airbus for two additional A350F freighters, bringing the Hong Kong-based airline’s total commitment to eight of the new-generation cargo aircraft. The order, announced on May 27, 2026, will see the aircraft operated by Cathay Cargo, the group’s freight division. The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is calling for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to rethink wet runway landing guidance following a spate of overruns. On May 26, 2026, the NTSB published several recommendations in a report entitled ‘Accounting for the Progressive Decrease in Runway Friction Associated with Increasing Rainfall Intensity’. According to the report, the new NTSB recommendations result from investigations into 11 runway overrun accidents and incidents over a 15-year period (2008–2022) that occurred after an aircraft landed on wet runways.
