As a result of a collaboration between the Japanese airline and The Pokémon Company, the franchise’s rights owners, a series of three ANA aircraft are to be painted in Pokémon liveries. On May 28, 2026, ANA unveiled the first two, ‘Pokémon Jet Red’ and ‘Pokémon Jet Green’. Subscription required By Bjorn Fehrm and Scott Hamilton May 28, 2026, © Leeham News: This is the third article in a series that will use Airbus’ history and present technology work to deduce how Airbus will develop its next new airliner. The company’s current statement is that this new aircraft, a single-aisle model that will replace the A320/A321 series, will begin deliveries to airlines in the latter part of the next decade. We looked into Airbus’ history in the last article to understand its DNA when it comes to aircraft development up to the last new aircraft, the A350-900. Now…
I get a lot of messages from people about their travel frustrations. Often people will directly ask me for help, which I try to provide when possible, assuming their complaint is reasonable (after all, consumers often feel powerless in the travel industry, when things go wrong). Other times I’ll just be CC’ed on complaints to travel providers. Well, here’s a complaint that’s sort of leaving me speechless, and not because of what the hotel did… This absurdly overblown Aman complaint is too much I woke up this morning to an email with the subject line “I Denounce the Disgraceful Service…

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has proposed a substantial fine for something that can only be described as an unusual crackdown… Alaska Airlines faces fine for intoxicated passenger violations The FAA has announced that it has proposed a $165,000 civil penalty against Alaska Airlines for allegedly allowing intoxicated passengers to board flights. This fine relates to incidents that occurred on 11 flights between February 2024 and February 2025. FAA regulations prohibit airlines from allowing anyone who appears intoxicated to board an aircraft. Specifically, “no certificate holder may allow any person to board any of its aircraft if that person appears to…

While the implications here likely won’t be too widespread, I can’t help but find this to be an interesting ruling, especially as someone who has opinions in the tap water vs. bottled water debate (thanks to @istrakhov for flagging this). By the way, for those curious, I think the travel angle here is how norms around bottled vs. tap water differ so much around the globe, and it’s something for travelers to navigate. Italian hotel restaurant refuses to offer free tap water Italy’s highest court has ruled that a five-star hotel in Italy’s Dolomites was acting lawfully when it refused…
An OMAAT reader shared a frustrating Ritz-Carlton experience with me, and unfortunately my take on this is likely pretty cynical… Ritz-Carlton Jakarta provides poor service recovery Marriott Bonvoy Titanium member Scott completed an 18-night stay at the Ritz-Carlton Jakarta Mega Kuningan, in Indonesia. Scott had a variety of service failures during his stay, ranging from a lack of reliable hot water, to poor room maintenance, to seeing vomit on the club lounge floor, to a lobby security incident involving a prostitute, to repeated failures to address the problems. While Scott tried to get a resolution to this early in the…
