In the fast-evolving world of air cargo operations, choosing the right aircraft is a decision that defines efficiency, reach, and profitability. Among the heavyweights of the freighter market, this Boeing pair gets a lot of attention: Boeing 767 and 777 freighters. At first glance, they appear as close relatives: both are twin-engine widebodies derived from Boeing’s passenger jetliners, and both have earned reputations for reliability, efficiency, and adaptability. Despite that, beneath those familiar lines lie two very different philosophies of flight. The 767F has become the dependable backbone of e-commerce and express delivery, balancing payload with operational flexibility. The 777F,…
The biggest aviation event of the year (sorry Paris) is finally here as the opening day of the Dubai Airshow 2025 swings into action today. The exhibition stands are up, the planes are in, the business attire is on, and attendees are ready to network with friends and colleagues, sample a few flight shows and check out the incredible aircraft. The five-day event starts on November 17, 2025, at Dubai World Central (DWC) with tens of thousands of people expected to attend and hundreds of deals ready to be signed off. And of course, AeroTime will be on the ground…
For many travelers, long-haul travel still primarily conjures images of widebody jets, but Turkish Airlines is increasingly proving that some very long routes can be handled effectively by single-aisle aircraft. In 2025, the airline’s Boeing 737 MAX 8 and Boeing 737 MAX 9 will be flying deep into Africa from Istanbul, with flight times exceeding six hours. Routes such as Istanbul to Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Ponte-Noire, and other destinations all across Africa consistently rank among the airline’s longest nonstop Boeing 737 MAX-served sectors, turning the aircraft into a quasi-long-haul workhorse aircraft. This pattern reflects a broader shift in the…
While the Boeing 787 Dreamliner family is an incredibly popular series of widebody twinjet aircraft, only a handful of carriers around the world fly all three of the type’s variants: the 787-8, the 787-9, and the 787-10. United Airlines is one such carrier, with current fleet data made available by ch-aviation showing that it presently has 12 787-8s, 47 787-9s (plus a whopping 141 more examples on order), and 21 787-10s at its disposal. According to aeroLOPA, United Airlines favors three-class seating configurations on its Boeing 787 Dreamliner family aircraft, with capacities of 243 on the 787-8, 257 or 222…
Airbus has recently secured a landmark order from Air China Cargo for six Airbus A350F freighters, converting a previously signaled commitment into an order for firm metal. The deal makes Air China Cargo the official launch customer for the aircraft variant in mainland China, and it anchors the Airbus A350F’s presence in one of the world’s most important air freight markets, one that only continues to grow. These new widebodies will progressively replace increasingly outdated Boeing 747-400F and Airbus A330 freighters in the airline’s fleet, boosting overall payload efficiency and cutting fuel burn alongside emissions. For Airbus, the contract adds…
Colombia will get 15 Gripen E single-seater and two Gripen F twin-seater fighters, to be delivered between 2026 and 2032. Saab announced it has signed the contract with Colombia for the acquisition of the Gripen E/F, after the selection in April 2025. The contract, signed on Nov. 15, 2025, includes 15 Gripen E single-seater and two Gripen F twin-seater fighters, as well as associated equipment and weapons, training and services. The order is valued €3.1 billion (USD3.6 billion), with the deliveries of the 17 aircraft planned between 2026 and 2032. Additionally, Saab and the Colombian Government also signed two offset…
The Airbus A321XLR is a next-generation narrowbody aircraft produced by Airbus that is set to redefine what a narrowbody jet is and what it can do. The plane comes with an advertised range of up to 4,700 nautical miles (8,700 km). The XLR gives airlines widebody-style reach on long-and-thin routes that cannot support larger twin-engine aircraft. Early operators are already proving the concept, as Iberia has deployed the type on North Atlantic sectors served from Madrid, including flights to Boston and a forthcoming Madrid to San Juan service that will become one of the XLR’s longest flights. American Airlines has…
The Arexis Electronic Warfare suite will replace the Eurofighter Typhoon’s wingtip pods, part of the fighter’s Defensive Aid Sub-System (DASS). Germany’s Eurofighter EK program moved forward on Nov. 14, 2025, with a new order for one of its main modifications. In fact, Swedish defense major Saab announced a second order from Airbus regarding its Arexis Electronic Warfare system. The Eurofighter EK (Elektronischer Kampf) is a dedicated SEAD/DEAD (Suppression/Destruction of Enemy Air Defense) variant of the European jet being developed for the Luftwaffe (German Air Force). Arexis will be the defining feature offering the electromagnetic spectrum, radar-killing and self-protection capabilities. “The…
The Embraer 2025 Dubai Airshow lineup is a tightly curated snapshot of the markets where the Brazilian manufacturer is trying to enter or expand its foothold over the next few years. The aircraft manufacturer’s offerings will be headlined by the new KC-390 Millennium demonstrator, a capable multirole cargo aircraft that the company is targeting mostly at European defense ministries. Alongside that jet will be the Embraer E195-E2 and the Embraer E190F, the company’s latest offerings in the commercial passenger and freighter spaces, respectively. The company will use the Dubai Airshow to underscore its momentum in the Middle East and North…
