The United States Air Force operates the world’s largest fleet of Lockheed Martin F-35 stealth fighters, but the exact number isn’t always obvious at first glance. The program is constantly in motion: new aircraft roll off the production line, squadrons are activated or reshuffled, and older jets rotate through training units or scheduled maintenance. With the F-35 gradually becoming the centerpiece of the Air Force’s future fighter inventory, having a clear sense of how many are actually in service, and how rapidly that number is growing has become increasingly important for anyone following US military aviation. In this article, we…

Complaining about Marriott Bonvoy is kind of a popular pastime in the miles & points world (I’m certainly guilty!). The way I see it, two things can both be true — Marriott can be really bad at managing expectations for elite members, and Marriott can also have a lot of hotels that are worth staying at, so you might as well make the most of those stays. As many people may remember, the Marriott Bonvoy program was only formed in 2018, when Marriott and Starwood merged, and that included the merger of the Marriott Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest programs.…

Mosaic Tiger was used as a distributed operations stress test to simulate how the unit would operate in a future high-end conflict. Exercise Mosaic Tiger 26-1, held Nov. 12–21, 2025 across multiple locations in Florida and Georgia, offered one of the clearest looks yet at how the U.S. Air Force expects its units to operate under a future high-end conflict. The event brought different specialties from Moody AFB’s 23rd Wing for a ten-day evaluation of their ability to generate, defend and sustain airpower while dispersed, resource-limited and, in some cases, cut off from higher headquarters. The Air Force’s Agile Combat…

SkyTeam member Aerolineas Argentinas has been a bit of a mess — the airline has been government owned since 2008, and lost money for 18 consecutive years. The company was given enough support to stay alive, but not enough of an investment to actually succeed.Amazingly enough, in 2024, the airline turned its first profit in decades. The airline had an operating profit of $56.6 million, and expects its profit to roughly double in 2025. The company is now planning a major investment, as reported by Aviacionline, made possible by the carrier no longer requiring annual contributions from Argentina’s government. This…

Ethiopian Airlines is by far Africa’s largest operator, although there is not much competition across the vast continent. According to the US Department of Transportation, the Star Alliance member carried 637,000 passengers to/from the US in the 12 months to August 2025. The same source shows that just 70.9% of the carrier’s US seats were filled, which is, in itself, a very low result. Compared to the prior year, traffic rose by 6% but was outstripped by a 10% increase in seats for sale. As such, its seat load factor fell. When all airlines in all US-Africa markets are considered,…
