Switzerland, after approving a US$7.5 billion expenditure for its next generation of fighter aircraft, is being forced to cut back its planned order of 36 F-35A Lightning IIs in order to remain within budget. The decision to procure the F-35A Lightning II over competition from the Eurofighter Typhoon, Dassault Rafale, and the Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet was taken in June 2021 after years of protracted debate and an order of Saab Gripens that was overturned by a public referendum. Initially wanting 36 aircraft for the Swiss Air Force, a budget of CHF6 billion (US$7.5 billion) was set and approved by…

Then we saw the airline announce China Airlines as its second partner, EVA Air as its third partner, Philippine Airlines as its fourth partner, and Condor as its fifth partner. Now we’re seeing the airline reveal its sixth partner, so these are coming along…

There’s a new airline startup in the United States, and it’s unlike anything we’ve seen before in the country. I actually think it’s a great concept in theory, though some of the details may need a little more ironing out. We first learned about this a couple of months ago, but more details have just been made available, so let’s go over everything we know. Magnifica Air, between first class and a private jet Magnifica Air is an airline startup that hopes to launch service as of the third quarter of 2027. Before I go any further, let me emphasize…
American Airlines is set to debut its first Airbus A321XLR on December 18, marking a pivotal shift in its long-haul strategy. The new aircraft will initially fly premium transcontinental domestic routes like New York JFK Airport (JFK) – Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) from key US gateways, with Europe (planned to Edinburgh Airport for Spring 2026) firmly in its sights. This move comes as American works to regain competitive ground lost to Delta Air Lines and United Airlines. The airline believes the A321XLR can unlock profitable international markets that were previously inaccessible. Rather than competing head-to-head with rivals using large…
