We’ve seen a trend whereby an increasing number of airlines are offering what I like to call a “business class plus” product, which is a special seating option within the business class cabin. While business class has come a long way in general, these seats can take your experience to the next level. I’d like to take a closer look at that in this post. Which airlines are offering this, why, and how much extra do these seats cost? Why airlines are introducing “premium” business class Airlines do everything in their power to utilize space on aircraft efficiently. This can…
In May 2023, Saudia unveiled plans to introduce an all-new business class product on its upcoming Airbus A321XLRs. At the time, the plan was for those planes to be delivered in 2024, though that timeline ended up being pushed back by a couple of years, given overall A321XLR delays. There’s now an interesting update, as we’re just months from these planes debuting. Not only is the A321XLR an exciting new plane for the airline, but it’ll also feature a new business class product for the airline. Saudia’s Airbus A321XLRs will have just 144 seats Saudia has 15 Airbus A321XLRs on…
The question of what the world’s longest military airbase runways are is somewhat more difficult to answer than it may seem, as many airports around the world are dual-use (military/civilian). Another factor is what counts as a runway, as there are ice runways on the ice in Antarctica and dry unpaved lakebed runways in California. This article will include the longest dual-use runway and the longest lake-bed runway, but it will otherwise focus on military base-only runways. The US dominates the list of the longest military runways for multiple reasons, like that some airports were designed to support space missions.…
In the past, I’ve written guides about how to redeem points with some major hotel loyalty programs, like Hilton Honors, Marriott Bonvoy, and World of Hyatt. Accor Live Limitless (ALL) is a major hotel program that I don’t write about much, and in this post, I thought it would be interesting to talk about redeeming points with the French hotel group. After all, Accor is an absolutely massive brand (especially outside the United States), with over 5,000 properties spread across a staggering 50+ brands. Accor is unique among the major hotel loyalty programs, as it’s the only program that’s strictly…
As the new year is nearly here, it is worth exploring British Airways’ new and returning routes. The nine upcoming markets involve three units (BA mainline, BA EuroFlyer, and BA CityFlyer) and five airports on the UK mainland (Glasgow, London City, London Gatwick, London Heathrow, and London Stansted). As the additions have already been disclosed, this article is simply a summary of the situation. It reflects what is known as of December 26. It is highly likely that more routes will be added, particularly for next autumn or winter. BA Will Begin These Nine Routes In 2026 Credit: GCMap Four of…
The Airbus A320 family is the most successful jet aircraft program of all time, and key to its success is the popularity of the newer A320neo family, which is made up of the A319neo, A320neo, and A321neo (including the A321LR and A321XLR subvariants). While the A319neo has found few customers, the A320neo has already received over 4,000 orders, while the A321neo and its subvariants have accumulated over 7,000 orders, making it the most ordered commercial variant of all time. Not only does the A320neo family have limitless demand, but Airbus can’t build the planes fast enough to meet airlines’ needs.…
A United AirlinesMileagePlus member went above and beyond to earn his airline status earlier this month, taking six flights in one day. The California resident devised a plan to meet the required mileage for Premier Platinum status, which required six trips totaling $500 and 60,000 miles. As shared on the traveler’s Reddit account, and reported by the New York Post, frequent flier Stephen calculated the exact number of flights necessary to retain his status, which took him taking return trips from San Francisco International Airport to Reno Tahoe International Airport, Sacramento International Airport, and Los Angeles International Airport . It’s…
In the midst of network cuts and financial struggles, Spirit Airlines has now announced an expansion. As reported by AeroRoutes, the famed ultra-low-cost carrier will be launching service from Boston Logan International Airport to Cancun and Santo Domingo. These new services will commence in February 2026, and both routes will run until the end of April. Spirit Airlines will be going up against JetBlue, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and Arajet on these two routes. Spirit will be by far the smallest competitor on these two routes, and it’ll also be using its smallest aircraft (the Airbus A320-200) on these…
Passengers onboard a Frontier Airlines flight from Atlanta to San Juan found themselves in Miami after the aircraft needed to divert under precaution to Miami after identifying a potential fuel leak. The captain made an emergency landing at one of Florida’s busiest airports, met at the gate by several fire trucks operated by the airport’s Miami-Dade Airport Fire Rescue (MDFR) team. The flight, operated by one of the Denver ultra-low-cost-carriers Airbus A320neo, was flying across the Atlantic Ocean and had just passed over the Bahamas when the potential fuel leak was identified. Out of an abundance of caution, the captain…
Premium economy is often seen as an acceptable compromise between the comfort of business class and the affordability of economy. Today, many people can afford more than economy, but at the same time, flying has lost the shine it had in the Jet Age. The Jet Age was a time when flying was something mostly reserved for the well-to-do, and people would be expected to dress up for the occasion. Now it is something everyone does. Business class is sometimes seen as a frivolous waste of money; this sentiment has played a large role in collapsing the global first class…
