“The path to a 30% total mishap reduction requires consistent, incremental improvement in the adherence of our standards. Starting in FY26, we will target a 50% reduction in the total number of procedural noncompliance mishaps year-over-year to achieve a 45 total mishap reduction by 2028.” Source: Quoted from the Marine Corps 2026 Aviation Plan published on February 10, confirming a future centered on fleet shifts, broad modernization, and safety touch-ups. At the center of the plan, like it or not, is aggressive integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
From SnF 2024 (YouTube Edition): Doug Rozendaal Explains The History of The Historic Replica Doug Rozendaal took a moment out of his busy Sun ‘n Fun experience to talk about the charm of Mister Mulligan, his classic Howard DGA-6. Rozendaal’s aircraft isn’t the original one-off, purpose-built race plane, of course, but actually a very convincing replica of the storied aircraft. The design hails back to the golden age of racing, when the 30’s economy wrought havoc on budgets around the globe. The DGA-6 design was meant to show just how far aerodynamics and engines had come at the time, and…

Spirit Airlines has asked a New York bankruptcy court to approve a plan to auction 20 Airbus jets in a court-supervised process that would set a floor price at $533.5 million and could lead to the start of a formal bidding process in April 2026 if would-be buyers emerge. The carrier, operating under Chapter 11 protection, said the sale would help it shrink its fleet, cut costs tied to aircraft it no longer needs, and strengthen its financial position as it works through its restructuring. Spirit’s proposed sale covers 13 A320 aircraft and seven A321 aircraft. The airline identified CSDS Asset Management LLC as the “stalking horse bidder,” a common bankruptcy tool that establishes a baseline offer and…
Not all flights go as planned, and sometimes issues arise, necessitating a diversion. Once in a while we’ll see a “flight to nowhere,” whereby a plane has to return to its origin. However, this has to be one of the most extreme versions of this that I’ve seen. ANA 787 ends up where it started after 14 hoursThis incident happened on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, and involves All Nippon Airways flight NH223, scheduled to complete the journey from Tokyo Haneda (HND) to Frankfurt (FRA). The flight was operated by a 10-year-old Boeing 787-9 with the registration code JA875A, and there…
ATR reported €1.2 billion in revenue for 2025, right as the turboprop aircraft maker gears up to ramp up production in 2026. At a press conference held at the company’s premises in Toulouse, France, on February 18, 2026, ATR’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nathalie Tarnaud Laude expressed her satisfaction about the firm’s performance in the past year, even if deliveries totaled 32 aircraft, a bit lower than the 35 it delivered the preceding year. The French executive blamed supply chain constraints, particularly in areas such as landing gears and engines, for this limited output. Nevertheless, she highlighted that demand remains…
GENEVA — The latest U.S.-brokered talks between envoys from Moscow and Kyiv over Russia’s all-out invasion of Ukraine ended Wednesday with no sign of a breakthrough and with both sides saying the talks were “difficult,” as the war’s fourth anniversary approaches next week. The negotiations in Switzerland were the third round of direct talks organized by the U.S., after meetings earlier this year in Abu Dhabi that officials described as constructive but which also made no major headway. Expectations for significant progress in Geneva were low.“The negotiations were not easy,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said after the talks broke up and…
Despite the fact that I have dozens of credit cards, I deal with very little credit card fraud, all things considered. It’s also not something that I’m too paranoid about, given the great protection offered by most credit cards in the event of fraud. It had been quite some time since I’ve dealt with credit card fraud, though I guess it was time for that clock to reset. I always find it interesting to see the methods used for credit card fraud, and this one is particularly strange, so I’m curious if any OMAAT readers have theories. Seven fraudulent Grab transactions…
The National Aeronautic Association has announced the finalists for the 2025 Robert J. Collier Trophy, a list that provides a glimpse of some of the cutting-edge technologies where US aerospace is most notably advancing.
