Delta Air Lines has long prided itself in operational reliability, even trademarking the term “The On-Time Machine.” However, is that concept now a thing of the past? New alleged data suggests so… Delta reportedly overtakes United with flight cancelations Previous Delta CEO Richard Anderson probably had the biggest impact in turning Delta into what it became. He said that the single biggest thing an airline can do to win brand loyal customers is to operate reliably. That doesn’t just happen by chance, and Delta invested a ton of money into making reliability a point of differentiation. For years, Delta actually…

New York has some of the world’s most congested airspace, so it’s important for pilots to be prepared, brief the approach, etc. Here’s an example of two airline pilots who seemingly approached New York Kennedy Airport (JFK) completely unprepared, in a way that’s rather concerning. I’m not sure if there was the perfect storm of issues that somehow caused the pilots to get into this situation, or if this level of unpreparedness is common at the airline. On the plus side, kudos to the JFK controllers for keeping their calm, and not being jerks, for once! Viva A321neo approaches JFK…

This reflects shifts in fleet strategy, international competition, and long-haul network planning. The aircraft’s advanced design improves fuel efficiency, reduces carbon emissions, and enhances operational reliability, while also allowing Delta to standardize premium products across international routes, strengthening brand loyalty and reinforcing…

Can the Boeing 777X take off without its wingtips extended? It is a question that continues to circulate across aviation forums, social media, and even airport spotting communities, largely because the 777X’s folding wingtips are unlike anything seen on a commercial airliner before. With images frequently showing the aircraft taxiing with its wingtips folded upward, it is reasonable for observers to wonder whether the aircraft could ever depart in that configuration. This comes not just from a curiosity standpoint, but from a safety and certification perspective. The 777X is designed to operate at the very limits of airport infrastructure, wing…

After having completed two runway repair projects in recent years, San Francisco International Airport is set to begin a third runway renovation program. As reported by SFGate, the airport will close Runway 1R/19L for a full repavement, as well as to upgrade nearby lighting systems and the taxiways. The work will begin in March 2026 and is expected to last for roughly six months. The project will have a small but noticeable effect on SFO’s operations. The airfield only has four runways, so having one runway out of service for half of the year does reduce overall capacity. However, the…
