By Bjorn Fehrm and Henry Tam March 6, 2026, ©. Leeham News: We started the series on developing a new airliner in the 14 CFR Part 25 class (i.e., not a commuter-class aircraft) on August 1st 2025. The objective was to write a series about such development with people I knew that has “been there, done that”? Here is how the series started: Four years ago, I did a series on aircraft development with Henry Tam and Andrew Telesca, both part of the canceled Mitsubishi SpaceJet program. The series was about the arduous task of developing and producing a certified…
In 2023, LOT Polish Airlines announced plans to introduce all-new cabins on its Boeing 787s, the only aircraft in its wide body fleet (with both the 787-8 and 787-9 variants). This includes a new business class with direct aisle access, and more. The first of these planes is expected to be reconfigured in the second half of 2026, though even ahead of that, there’s a positive update. LOT Polish Airlines introducing Wi-Fi on Boeing 787s LOT Polish Airlines has announced that it has started the process of gradually rolling out Wi-Fi on its Dreamliner fleet. The first Boeing 787-9, with…
Business jet production is on track to continue climbing through the rest of the decade before a modeled downturn in 2030 interrupts the upcycle, according to a new 10-year forecast from US market analyst Forecast International. The firm projects roughly 7,900 business jet deliveries from 2026 through 2035, with annual output rising from 752 aircraft in 2026 to 830 in 2029, falling to 604 in 2030, then recovering to 863 by 2035. That 2030 dip is the most striking takeaway in the report, especially because it comes at a time when business aviation demand remains healthy. Forecast International says the industry is entering the second half of the decade…

The Portuguese National Space Authority (ANACOM) has issued the first license in Europe for the performance of a controlled commercial spacecraft re-entry from Low Earth Orbit (LEO) to European territory under national jurisdiction. In August 2025, the Azores Spaceport received a five-year operating license from the Portuguese government, enabling it to perform space launches. This time, however, the authorization has been granted…
I don’t ordinarily cover the financial results of the major European airline groups, because, well… there are only so many hours in the day. However, they are often interesting, and that includes the 2025 Lufthansa Group financial results that have just been released. In this post, I’d like to focus on the one aspect of these results that I find to be most noteworthy. Lufthansa Group margins range from 0.9% to 9.3%For the 2025 financial year, Lufthansa Group is promoting how it achieved record revenue, though profitability is down slightly compared to 2024. That’s not too surprising when you look…

Without a doubt, American Airlines’ most lucrative international market is London Heathrow (LHR), given that it’s also a hub for joint venture partner British Airways. London is a market where you’d think American would want to put its best foot forward. However, the airline is currently dealing with a major issue when it comes to catering at the airport, and passengers are noticing. American isn’t locally catering flights at London Heathrow JonNYC broke the story about how since Saturday, February 28, 2026, American hasn’t been catering flights out of Heathrow Airport, as the airline has (at least temporarily) cut ties…

Spanish space company PLD Space has closed a €180 million Series C funding round led by Mitsubishi Electric Corporation. The Japanese conglomerate will also become the startup’s strategic partner and launch customer. In addition to providing capital to accelerate the development and industrial production of the MIURA 5 rocket, this agreement can also be regarded as a vector for the Spanish firm’s future expansion in the satellite launch market in Asia. This round, which takes the total amount of capital raised to date by PLD Space past the €350 million mark, has also seen the participation of Spanish public and…
