Pilot Reported That He Filled His Fuel Tanks To Full, For The First Time Since Purchasing The Airplane Analysis: The pilot reported that he filled his fuel tanks to full, for the first time since purchasing the airplane, to conduct a flight test to calculate fuel burn rate. A weight and balance calculation provided by the pilot showed that the airplane was over the maximum gross weight by about 25 lbs. During takeoff initial climb, he observed that the airplane was not climbing as he expected and realized he would not be able to clear the trees or powerlines ahead…
The UAE showed that its AH-64 Apaches and F-16s are actively flying in the counter-drone role, tackling Iranian drones before they can reach their targets. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) released on Mar. 8, 2026, a video showing footage from an electro-optical system of eight Iranian Shahed-type One-Way Attack (OWA) drones being shot down. Based on the sound of the typically slow rate of fire, acknowledgements of “target destroyed” by one of the crew and airborne position of the engaging platform, we have concluded these are AH-64 Apache attack helicopters employing their chin-mounted M230 30 mm chain gun. However, on…
A Bombardier Challenger 650 that crashed on takeoff from Bangor International Airport (BGR) in Maine on January 25, 2026, appears to have departed after exceeding the maximum holdover time for its anti-ice treatment, according to a preliminary report released by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). The crash killed both pilots and four passengers. The airplane, N10KJ, had arrived in Bangor from Houston as the first leg of a planned transatlantic trip to Châlons-Vatry Airport in France. According to the NTSB, the jet landed at Bangor at 1809 local time, taxied to the FBO ramp for refueling, then later taxied to the deice pad as snow fell. The deicing process began at 1919:26 and ended at 1927:04. Type…
For the most exciting flight of my Iceland to The Residence via Cambodia trip, it was time to fly Etihad Airways’ Airbus A380 The Residence on the 6hr50min flight from Abu Dhabi (AUH) to Paris (CDG). For those not familiar, The Residence is a product above first class, and it consists of a private three-room suite, with a living room, bedroom, and private bathroom and shower. In terms of the amount of space and privacy you’re allocated, there’s simply nothing else like this in commercial aviation. While I’m grateful whenever I get to fly in a premium cabin, flying in The Residence is…
Departing in the predawn darkness of Aug. 6, 1945, a modified B-29, designated with radio call sign ‘Dimples 82’, was carrying a single bomb. Enola Gay was about to change the world. Approximately a year and nine months earlier, on Dec. 2, 1943, a lone Boeing B-29 Superfortress bearing serial number 42-6259 had secretly taken to the Kansas skies. The aircraft was the 58th B-29 completed by Boeing of Wichita and had just been delivered to the Smoky Hills Army Air Field near Salina, Kansas, two days earlier. The bomber’s destination was Wright Army Air Field in Ohio to participate…
Archer Aviation has escalated its legal fight with Joby Aviation, accusing its rival of concealing extensive ties to China, misleading federal regulators, and gaining an unfair competitive advantage as both companies race to bring electric air taxis to the market. The allegations came in a countersuit Archer filed in California federal court on March 9, 2026, as part of an already heated dispute between two of the biggest names in the eVTOL sector. In its filing, Archer alleges that Joby operated a manufacturing subsidiary in Shenzhen for years and benefited from Chinese government support while publicly presenting itself as a made-in-the-US air-taxi company. Archer…
