Air China touched down at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport (AUH) from Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) for the first time on January 24, 2026.  The flight carried 278 passengers, completing the inaugural service of the new nonstop route between the Chinese and Emirati capitals. The Boeing 787 widebody operated as flight CA 705, launching what the carrier describes as its first new international route of 2026. The Ministry of Defence of the United Kingdom announced, on January 24, 2026, that it has selected seven companies to develop prototypes for its AH-64 Apache “loyal wingman” program.  Project NYX, as this program is known, aims to develop Uncrewed Air Systems (UAS) capable of operating alongside the UK’s Apache attack helicopters.   These drones will pair up with piloted aircraft, in what is commonly referred to as “loyal wingman function, to conduct a variety of missions, such as reconnaissance and surveillance, target acquisition, conducting electronic warfare and striking enemy targets.  This concept is one of the new capabilities identified by…

The USAF is introducing an improved version of its deployment construct, called Air Expeditionary Wing 2.0, based on the total force’s inputs and units’ feedback. The U.S. Air Force has announced on Jan. 23, 2026, that it will introduce a new deployment construct later this year, at the beginning of fiscal year 2027. Aero Linx: WACO Historical Society With the help of the WACO Historical Society (founded in 1978) members and many generous donors and supporters, Historic WACO Field opened in 1997. The field consists of a 77 acre site and features a 2200 foot runway (2000 feet usable) south of Troy, Ohio. Historic WACO Field is maintained by WACO volunteers and is constantly receiving upgrades and improvements, but we are always in need of additional volunteers to assist in the upkeep of the site.
