A US-based aviation safety advocacy group says the Boeing 787 Dreamliner involved in last year’s fatal Air India crash had a long and troubling history of technical problems, a claim that will now be examined by a US congressional committee and is adding pressure to an investigation already under intense scrutiny. The group, the Foundation for Aviation Safety, alleges the aircraft experienced repeated electrical and systems failures over several years before it crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad on June 12, 2025, killing 260 people. India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau is leading the inquiry, with US participation because the aircraft and its engines were designed…

As Cebu Pacific celebrates its 30th anniversary, the Philippine low-cost carrier is positioning itself to capitalize on the country’s newly relaxed visa requirements for Chinese travelers. The airline said it plans to restore pre-pandemic routes to China and take delivery of seven aircraft in 2026. Speaking during a press interview on the day of the airline’s milestone celebration, Xander Lao, President and Chief Commercial Officer, welcomed the government’s decision to bring the Philippines in line with its Southeast Asian neighbors on visa policy. He called it “a really great development” that makes the country more competitive. While it’s too early…
I’m currently working on efficiently publishing all the reviews from trips I took in late 2025, given just how much travel I did. However, that’s not stopping me from planning a last minute trip that I’m really excited about. Let me explain what I’ve booked so far, and then I’d love some feedback, because there are still plenty of things I haven’t yet planned, including some of the hotels, plus the return portion. We’re visiting Taipei & Hong Kong, and I’m excited!Back when Ford and I met over a decade ago, we’d travel to Asia all the time. For a…
Leonardo DRS announced the opening of a new naval power and propulsion facility in Charleston, South Carolina, to support the U.S. Navy’s drive for shipbuilding and its nuclear-powered Columbia-class submarine program — which is currently facing an estimated 17-month delay. It will also support the design and testing of naval steam turbine systems. The facility will also produce systems for the Columbia-class submarine program, which has been designated as the Navy’s top priority program,…

In late 2024, we saw Cathay Pacific launch its new Aria Suite business class. I’ve had the chance to fly it, and it’s a phenomenal product. Cathay Pacific is a world class airline, and this really elevates the carrier’s business class to being among the best in the world. As is the case with any new product, the challenge is the lengthy rollout, as actually retrofitting aircraft with a new product can take years. With that in mind, we’re continuing to see these seats introduced on more planes. In this post, I’d like to go over the current state of…
Italy’s Army has taken delivery of its first SAMP/T New Generation (NG) and GRIFO surface-to-air missile systems. The handover took place on January 22, 2026, at the Santa Barbara barracks in Sabaudia, home to the Army Air Defence Artillery Command (COMACA).
