I just had the chance to spend a couple of nights at the 171-key Park Hyatt Tokyo, a stay I booked at the last minute with World of Hyatt points. For some background, the Park Hyatt Tokyo is probably the most famous Hyatt property in the world, as it was featured in “Lost in Translation,” and has a bit of a cult following. I’ve loved my stays there in the past, and the hotel has just undergone a 19-month renovation, intended to breathe new life into the property, coinciding with its 30th anniversary.I couldn’t wait to check out the hotel shortly…

Hello from Japan, as I just flew Hong Kong Airlines’ Airbus A330-300 business class on the 3hr30min flight from Hong Kong (HKG) to Tokyo Narita (NRT). My goal was to get to Japan, but with the Chinese New Year holiday period, flights on All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific, and Japan Airlines, were either entirely sold out, or had outrageous fares and no award availability.Fortunately I found a fare I was comfortable with for Hong Kong Airlines business class, which presented a fun opportunity to fly with the airline again. Hong Kong Airlines has the same owners as China’s Hainan Airlines,…

The 30,000 lb bunker busting bombs have been notably used last year during Operation Midnight Hammer, which saw seven B-2 Spirit stealth bombers dropping 14 MOPs on Iranian nuclear sites on June 21, 2025. As a matter of fact, the redacted Justification & Approval for Undefinitized Contract Action (UCA) document specifically mentions that the…

The U.S. Army’s Global Response Force will begin assessing the Bumblebee V2 drone interceptor in March following a $5.2 million contract award inked on January 30 by the Pentagon. The Defense Department’s Joint Interagency Task Force 401 announced the agreement with Perennial Autonomy on February 4, which will see deliveries of the Bumblebee V2 start next month. The Bumblebee V2, a first-person view drone with four rotors, acts as its own drone hunter-killer system. Advanced artificial intelligence software enables it to identify other unmanned aerial vehicles and engage them in combat. It attacks other drones and knocks them out of…

Embraer is sure to set tongues wagging having teased a mysterious aircraft in a new online video, ahead of what the Brazilian manufacturer describes as an “extraordinary” announcement. A short video in a social media post, uploaded by Embraer on February 13, 2025, shows the silhouette of an aircraft with spooky, atmospheric lighting adding to the suspense. In the 17-second video, bright spotlights shine through the aircraft windows while a ticking clock and increasingly loud sound effects ramp up the extreme intensity. In the post, Embraer writes: “Something exciting is coming—and you won’t want to miss it. For those who…

The U.S. Air Force on Tuesday awarded Boeing a sole-source contract for new massive bunker-buster bombs, to replace the munitions used in last June’s strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. In a copy of the justification notice posted online Thursday, the Air Force said it needed to award the U.S. defense giant a sole-source contract because it is the only vendor that makes the GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator. Issuing the contract to any other vendor “would result in unacceptable delays” and undermine the Air Force’s readiness, the service said in the notice.“This action is essential to restore operational readiness … and ensure…

When we visited Hong Kong, there were two hotels I was most hoping to stay — the Rosewood Hong Kong, which is located in Kowloon, and the Upper House Hong Kong, located on Hong Kong Island. The 117-key Upper House Hong Kong opened back in 2009, and it has long been regarded as one of the city’s best hotels. Not that I place much value on this, but on The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2025 list, it was ranked in 10th place. Here’s what I find so interesting — people rave about the Upper House Hong Kong, but it has…
