Swiss aircraft interior specialist Bucher Leichtbau has completed a large-scale refurbishment of galley units operated across the Lufthansa Group’s Airbus A320 and A321 fleet, returning equipment originally delivered in 2011 to service rather than replacing it. The Fällanden-based manufacturer announced on May 5, 2026, that the majority of the units covered by the program have been overhauled at its facilities and are now ready for further operational use. The galleys had spent more than a decade in continuous service on Lufthansa’s narrowbody fleet, which forms the backbone of the carrier’s European short and medium-haul operations and remains central to the…
Long Beach-based Rocket Lab Corporation announced that, in partnership with Raytheon, it has been selected to demonstrate advanced capabilities for the United States Space Force’s Space Based Interceptor program, a central building block of the Trump administration’s Golden Dome missile defense architecture. RTX subsidiary Raytheon is one of 12 companies selected by the US Space Force as prime contractors for the space-based interceptor program. These vendors were awarded other transaction authority agreements, worth up to a combined $3.2 billion, by the Space Force’s Space Systems Command in late 2025 and early 2026, with an initial capability demonstration scheduled for 2028. Brad Clevenger, President of Rocket Lab USA, framed the program as a “national security priority” that…
If you’re worried about a nut coming loose or falling off a bolt, you may want to use a castellated nut. Also known as castle nuts, they allow for a pin-based locking mechanism. Castellated nuts are used in conjunction with bolts with a hole through the shank. You can twist them onto the end of a bolt, followed by aligning the notches with the bolt’s hole. Once aligned, you can then insert a locking pin, such as a split pin, through the hole. Here are six things to consider when choosing a castellated nut. #1) Thread Size Like all nuts,…

Emirates Airline has just revealed its results for the 2025-2026 financial year (which runs April 1, 2025, through March 31, 2026). Not only has the airline achieved its highest profit ever, but the Dubai-based carrier is the world’s most profitable airline for a second year in a row, once again beating Delta. Details of Emirates’ impressive financial results Emirates Group has reported a record $6.6 billion profit, while Emirates Airline has reported a $6.2 billion profit (compared to $6.2 billion and $5.8 billion last year, respectively), representing a 16.2% profit margin (which is unbelievably good for the airline industry). As I wrote about earlier, Emirates Group reported a record $6.6 billion profit for the past financial year. That’s an increase over profits in the previous year, and it also means that Emirates is the world’s most profitable airline for a second year in a row. The company is celebrating this by rewarding employees in a pretty incredible way, which puts profit sharing at other airlines to shame… 130K Emirates employees get huge bonuses Emirates has historically offered profit sharing to employees when the airline has a good year. However, there’s no consistent formula to this, and it’s at the…
Among the “big three” US carriers — American, Delta, and United — there’s significant variance in terms of profitability. Delta has long been the most profitable, while American has long been the least profitable. United has been transforming itself in recent years, and went from being in American’s league, to getting closer to being in Delta’s league. There’s often discussion about all the things that Delta does right, and all the things that American does wrong, given their vastly different financial performance. However, what’s actually driving this difference in performance? Is Delta really transporting passengers that much more profitably, or…
FORT STEWART, Ga. — A futuristic whirr from the skies cut through the quiet of an unusually cool Georgia afternoon. In stationary concentration, a soldier moved only his fingers as he steered a small device through plastic pipes arranged into a makeshift obstacle course built to qualify soldiers on a tool that has quickly changed the course of modern warfare: drones. Unmanned aircraft shape nearly every part of the battlefields today, from reconnaissance and artillery spotting to precision strikes and surveillance. As the U.S. Army moves to integrate drones into each formation, units across the force are figuring out how to teach,…
