Textron Aviation Defense has announced the launch of a U.S. tour to showcase the Beechcraft M-346N as a “ready-now” solution for the U.S. Navy Undergraduate Jet Training System (UJTS) program. An M-346 has been specifically brought to the U.S. for the tour, re-assembled at Textron Aviation Defense’s headquarters in Wichita, Kansas, and is now flying from Beech Factory Airport. The aircraft has been flying in the U.S. since Sept. 9, as shown by flight tracking websites, with the collaboration…
South Korea’s three leading shipbuilders announced more detailed plans this month to cooperate with the Pentagon and revitalize American shipbuilding. The effort has become known as MASGA, or “Make American Shipyards Great Again.” Each company is planning major shifts in current shipyard operations, The Korea Economic Daily first reported. As the U.S. seeks to expand its maritime power to keep pace with an…

Drones are swiftly changing the nature of warfare, but for years, the United States has tied its hands behind its back when it comes to selling cutting-edge drone technology. Washington has long held fast to a strict interpretation of the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) — an informal political agreement formed in 1987 to limit the proliferation of missiles and missile technologies — which the U.S. applied to certain uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) as well, thereby preventing itself from selling its most advanced drones to many key partners. But China, Turkey and others have had no such scruples, which has…
Maybe I’m the only one who finds this interesting, but I did a little number crunching just now on something I’ve been curious about, and figured I’d share the results. International first class is the pinnacle of commercial aviation. Some airline executives argue it’s a dying product, while others argue that it’s as hot as ever, and worth investing in. Just to be perfectly clear, let me emphasize that I’m talking about international, three cabin (or even four cabin, if there’s premium economy) first class, and I’m not talking about domestic first class within the United States, which is often…
Malloy’s eight-rotor T-150 logistics drone has recently been used for ship-to-ship resupply during the HMS Prince of Wales’ CSG 25 deployment. The Royal Navy has declared the Malloy T-150 uncrewed air system (UAS) ready for front-line operations. The milestone, which moves tactical logistics closer to routine use at sea and ashore, follows two years of trials with Royal Navy and Royal Marines units. The intensive testing included scenarios from Arctic conditions to the Indian Ocean, as well as a historic ship-to-ship delivery during the UK Carrier Strike Group 25 (CSG 25) deployment. As a result, a fleet of T-150s will…
Turkish Airlines recently won a minority stake in Air Europa by accepting shared control of the company with the Hidalgo family, outmaneuvering Lufthansa and Air France-KLM, both of which were seeking a path to control. This deal, which included around €300 million in convertible debt for a stake of roughly 25-27%, is relatively unusual for non-EU carriers, but aligns with overarching EU ownership rules, and gives Turkish Airlines a strategic foothold on the Iberian Peninsula. Rival bidders balked at complex control constraints and governance guidelines, including a 20% stake from IAG. For Turkish Airlines, this move offers extensive geopolitical and…
It’s not lack of demand that’s holding air cargo back – it’s the wait time. For decades, booking a shipment has meant navigating email chains, spreadsheets, and more back-and-forth than a game of tennis. In fact, 45% of BCOs say it still takes up to two days just to confirm a single spot booking. But customer expectations have shifted toward the fast, seamless B2C experience they get in every other part of life, which is why the smartest carriers are starting to think – and operate – more like tech companies. By leveraging agile pricing, real-time booking data, and smarter…
