Global airline alliance oneworld and its member airlines, along with Bill Gates-backed Breakthrough Energy Ventures (BEV), have introduced a new $150 million fund aimed to address the limited availability and high cost of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).  In a statement, released on September 17, 2025, the airline alliance said Bill Gates’ Breakthrough Energy Ventures (BEV) would serve as the fund’s capital investment manager.  The fund is also supported by oneworld alliance member airlines such as International Airlines Group (IAG), Cathay Pacific, and Japan Airlines. Later this year, the world will gain a new shortest Boeing 767-400ER scheduled service. Operated by Delta Air Lines, it will be from Atlanta—where the carrier has 79% of the airport’s movements—to Miami. Cirium Diio data shows the route last had regular 767-400ER flights in 2006. The 767-400ER is an unpopular but exciting variant. Designed to replace old tri-engine equipment, just 38 aircraft were built. The first flight took place in October 1999. Virgin Australia, one of the biggest airlines in Australia, has announced that it will now allow pets on board, becoming Australia’s first pet-friendly airline.  In a statement released on September 17, 2025, the carrier announced that its new Pets in Cabin service will begin as a trial on flights from Melbourne to the Gold Coast and from Melbourne to the Sunshine Coast.
