Poland has urged NATO to impose a no-fly zone over Ukraine following a series of Russian drone incursions into alliance airspace. Speaking to Frankfurter Allgemeine on September 15, 2025, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski argued that the measure would better shield NATO members by intercepting threats before they crossed into allied territory.  “Protecting Ukrainian skies is also protecting NATO skies,” Sikorski said, pointing to repeated violations of Polish and Romanian airspace in recent weeks.  The most serious incident occurred on the night of September 9 to 10, 2025, when around 20 Russian drones entered Polish airspace. Using the Detect and Avoid System, the MQ-9B operated in U.S. airspace like any other piloted aircraft, without the need for the special handling usually required for UAS. Dutch carrier KLM was forced to cancel dozens of flights on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, after ground staff at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport (AMS) walked out in support of industrial action. Brussels Airport (BRU) in Belgium has released its latest traffic figures with data relating to August 2025. The numbers show that the airport is enjoying growth in both its passenger throughput and its cargo handling facilities. In August 2025, the second month of the main northern summer peak season, Brussels Airport welcomed 2.5 million passengers overall.
