After visually identifying the aircraft, the German Air Force transferred the escort responsibility to Swedish NATO allies and returned to Rostock-Laage. The escort process was carried out safely…
Cathay Pacific has announced that it’s resuming a route that was “permanently” cut several years back. The timing here is quite interesting, if you ask me. On September 9, 2025, Aarok, the prototype Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) drone, developed by French company Turgis & Gaillard, carried out its maiden flight from Blois-Le Breuil airfield. The flight lasted about an hour and demonstrated the maturity of the platform, according to the manufacturer. Conducted with a pilot on board for safety reasons, it marks a decisive step in France’s drive to field a sovereign MALE drone. “This first flight crowns four years of significant effort to give birth to the first European MALE drone,” said Fanny Turgis, president of Turgis & Gaillard. “The team worked tirelessly to…
While standing next to a mockup of Proteus at a briefing, Leonardo’s Managing Director of Helicopters UK announced that its demonstrator is set to fly for the first time this year. On September 12, 2025, Nigel Colman told journalists that the “hard work was progressing well” as it looks to progress the Proteus demonstrator. “It will fly,” Colman said. “It will fly because the Royal Navy wanted to see it fly this year. It’s fully built, though. Fuel tanks are in. I don’t think the engines are quite in, but it’s literally fully built.” He added: “In the coming weeks…
NASA scientists have discovered compelling new evidence indicating that Mars might once have supported life, similar to that which exists on Earth today. On September 10, 2025, NASA announced new findings from a sample called ‘Sapphire Canyon’, collected by the Perseverance Mars rover from a rock named ‘Cheyava Falls’ on the Red Planet in July 2024. After a year of analysis, scientists have confirmed that the sample contains a “potential biosignature”, marking the strongest evidence yet found by the space agency of ancient microbial life in its 60 years of exploring Mars. According to NASA scientists, a potential biosignature is…
XTI Aerospace, a Colorado-based developer of hybrid vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, has priced a public stock offering that is intended to raise another $20 million to support the development of the TriFan 600, a tiltrotor-style aircraft that the company claims will cruise at more than 300 miles per hour with a range of 1,000 miles. On September 12, XTI said it will sell 12.5 million new shares of its stock (or “pre-funded warrants” in place of shares for some investors). Each comes packaged with an option, known as a common warrant, that gives investors the opportunity to buy another share later. The…
It might not be quite as futuristic-looking as George Jetson’s spaceship-like flying car from the classic 1960s cartoon, but the Jetson One single-seat octocopter is still pretty wild. And unlike the animated version, this one is real — and, amazingly, now in the hands of its first customer. The Polish-founded startup Jetson has delivered the first electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) Jetson One to Oculus and Anduril Industries founder Palmer Luckey in California. The milestone marks Jetson’s shift from concept to commercialization and underscores its ambitions to expand in the US with a product that has an open-air cockpit and…
