QantasLink, the regional carrier within the Qantas Group of airlines, has announced that it intends to press ahead with a controversial plan to close three of its regional bases. The move comes despite outcry from unions at the airline, which state the move will be detrimental to the airline’s staff and passengers. The airline has said that pilot and cabin crew bases in Hobart (HBA), Canberra (CBR), and Mildura (MQL) will be wound down in April 2026. On September 30, 2025, Taiwan-based carrier STARLUX Airlines unveiled the next phase of its developing codeshare partnership with Alaska Airlines. The company announced it would be adding 12 new US cities to its codeshare network, thereby bringing its growing North American network to 20 destinations linked via direct flights to Taipei. The maker of America’s largest helicopters just received a new order for its enormous heavy lift CH-53K King Stallion. The Department of the Navy awarded $10.855 billion to Sikorsky, now a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin, for a maximum of 99 new helos to serve the US Marine Corps.
