Joby Aviation has performed a demonstration flight of its electric vehicle takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft in front of crowds at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai in Japan. On September 30, 2025, in partnership with ANA, Joby’s S4 aircraft successfully completed a vertical takeoff, followed by full transition to wingborne flight and a vertical landing. The moment marked the first time that an eVTOL aircraft has flown at a world expo and was designed to give the Japanese public their first taste of air taxi flight. Painted in an ANA livery, the Joby eVTOL aircraft is scheduled to conduct more than…
Forecasting air cargo demand has never been more challenging or more critical. Airlines, lessors, integrators, and forwarders are navigating a mix of economic cycles, supply chain shocks, and structural shifts like trade wars. The old rules of thumb — such as GDP growth equals cargo growth — no longer provide enough precision for decision-making. Instead, […] source
The Air France-KLM Flying Blue program has just published a new Promo Rewards list for October 2025, offering discounted short haul and long haul awards for travel over the coming months. There are quite a few destinations bookable with this promotion, including several in the Americas. The catch is that premium cabin options are limited. Let’s go over the details, as there’s potentially value to be had. I’m a big fan of the Air France-KLM Flying Blue program, especially for long haul premium cabin redemptions. Not only does Flying Blue largely have attractive award pricing for business class travel, but…
The Boeing 777 family is known for its industry-leading flight deck that has proven popular among airlines, pilots, and aviation thought leaders. In 1993, the flight deck received the Industrial Design Excellence Award from the Industrial Designers Society of America. This was the second time that an aircraft had been recognized by the prestigious organization. The first time was for the 777’s passenger cabin in 1992. Along with its clear strengths, the original 777 flight deck was also designed to have ample room for improvement. That has meant that the flight deck has been developed to incorporate the latest technology…
Dubai-based megacarrier Emirates has enacted its power bank on board ban, first proposed earlier in 2025. Under the new rules, which came into effect on October 1, 2025, using any kind of power bank is prohibited on board all Emirates flights. The move comes after a string of airlines have already brought in their own bans, which have been expedited following an increasing number of incidents where power banks have either been suspected of, or actually caused, onboard fires. A power bank (sometimes referred to as a battery pack or external power source) is a portable, rechargeable device primarily designed…

Amex Membership Rewards has just rolled out its newest airline points transfer bonus, which I’m sure many members will find to be valuable. I’d consider this to be more useful than the 30% transfer bonus to Marriott Bonvoy. Amex offering 20% Flying Blue transfer bonusBetween October 1 and October 31, 2025, you can receive a 20% bonus when you transfer Amex Membership Rewards points to Air France-KLM Flying Blue. Transfer Amex points to Flying Blue with a 20% bonusThis promotion is being offered on Amex’s end (in the United States), and is hard coded into the transfer ratio, meaning you…
Yesterday, a Boeing 747-8 that previously belonged to Korean Air arrived at Hamburg Airport (HAM) in the north of Germany after an overnight flight from James M Cox Dayton International Airport (DAY) in the US federal state of Ohio. Needless to say, this is not the kind of sector that such an aircraft would have operated in its passenger-carrying life, which begs the question as to why it was flying this route. However, the aircraft in question isn’t just any Boeing 747, but, rather, one that will later be used by the United States Air Force as a ‘doomsday’ plane.…
The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF), and the United States Air Force (USAF) have begun Exercise Bushido Guardian 25, a large-scale trilateral fighter drill designed to strengthen integration among the three Indo-Pacific security partners. The exercise runs from September 29 to October 10, 2025, at Misawa Air Base in northern Japan. Bushido Guardian began in 2019 as a bilateral exercise between Japan and Australia. The 2025 iteration marks the first time the USAF has joined as a full participant. “Bushido Guardian 2025 marks a pivotal moment as we train with our Royal Australian Air…
