Earlier this week, Alaska Airlines’ codeshare agreements with Singapore Airlines and LATAM ended, with the airline citing that these agreements between the airlines were no longer effective. While this sounds like the extended connectivity the airline can offer is decreasing, the carrier has been compensating for this by expanding existing partnerships with other carriers recently. While codeshare agreements are incredibly helpful in offering expanded route networks and increased connectivity for passengers, if not done strategically, the agreements can also negatively impact an airline’s business. A YouTube video posted by the account Uncanny Expeditions appears to show a previously unseen object undergoing testing at Lockheed Martin’s Helendale Radar Cross Section (RCS) Test Range in California’s Mojave Desert. The footage, filmed from a distance, shows what appears to be a dark, diamond- or manta-shaped structure being mounted on a pole and moved during testing activities at the range. The object is seen in several sequences from different angles and lighting conditions. In one frame, a distinct blue area can be spotted on its upper surface. While the overall shape resembles a flying wing or blended-body configuration…
Southwest Airlines has announced plans to launch service to a new state, and I don’t think this should come as a huge surprise to anyone. Southwest will add Anchorage flights as of May 2026Southwest will start flying to Alaska’s Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) as of the spring of 2026. The flights are expected to be made available for purchase as part of the next schedule extension, coming later this month. Specifically, service will commence in May 2026, with the first two routes to Anchorage being out of Denver (DEN) and Las Vegas (LAS). Both routes are in the…
The experience onboard your next Virgin Australia flight could feel a bit more roomy, with the airline announcing this week that on select domestic and international services, you can bid for ‘neighbor-free seating’. The initiative will allow economy guests to pay for extra comfort on their journey, by ensuring that there is no one seated next door. Eligible economy class ticket holders will be able to submit a bid to reserve the seat next door, adding extra comfort and privacy for their next flight. This comes after the airline surveyed its Velocity Frequent Flyer members in 2023, wehere 42% of…
Royal Navy Re-Armed: Sea Venom Anti-Ship Missile Achieves IOC and Naval Strike Missile is Test Fired
The Royal Navy is becoming more lethal as September brings new developments in the deployment of two of its vital anti-ship missiles. The Sea Venom light anti-ship missile, carried by the Wildcat HMA2, and the ship-borne heavy anti-ship Naval Strike Missile (NSM) are hitting major milestones as the Royal Navy seeks to become more lethal in the anti-shipping role. For the last few years, the Royal Navy has been reliant on its submarine capability to take on hostile warships. The causes were the combined problems of equipment leaving service and slow development and integration timelines of their replacements. Now, however,…
The 777X is Boeing’s new flagship aircraft. While the jet was initially supposed to enter commercial service in 2020, that timeline has been pushed back considerably. In recent times, it seemed like Boeing had actually made some good progress on certification, with the plan being for a mid-2026 entry into service for the plane. Unfortunately that’s no longer in the cards, and at this point the plane’s entry into service has been pushed back into 2027, as reported by Bloomberg. We had some hints that this was coming a few weeks back, but it’s now closer to being official. The…

The Solid Fuel Ramjet (SFRJ) and the Hypersonic Dual-Mode Ramjet (DMRJ) are seeing rapid success as the U.S. hikes spending and development of hypersonic weapons. GE Aerospace has shed more light on its hypersonic propulsion programs, announcing on Sep. 22, 2025 the testing of a Solid Fuel Ramjet (SFRJ) propulsion system and a dual-mode rotation-detonation combustion ramjet at the Kennedy Space Center and the GE Aerospace Research Center in New York, respectively. The SFRJ was installed on the Atmospheric Test Launched Airbreathing System (ATLAS) Flight Test Vehicle that underwent “a successful supersonic captive carry” flight test. In a promotional video…
I hope everyone is having as nice of a weekend as possible. As I covered yesterday, this has been the toughest two days of my life, as I lost my mom yesterday. So that I don’t cry for the 637th time in the past 36 hours (f*ck it, I’m already crying), I’ll just leave it at that, and say thank you so, so, so much to everyone for their kind wishes and thoughts. I’ll have another post on that tomorrow, but goodness, it has given me a lot of strength and courage, so thank you. On the points & travel…
When it’s winter in the Northern Hemisphere, is summer in the Southern Hemisphere. This leads to many travelers packing their bags and heading south for the winter. The busiest airport in Australasia, Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD), is the heartbeat of Australian aviation, and using data from Cirium, an online aviation analytics company, Simple Flying looked at the airlines with the most Boeing 787 Dreamliner services this December. The 787 is a popular wide-body, twin-engine aircraft that has quickly risen in popularity for long-haultravel. The aircraft features extensive composite materials and advanced aerodynamics, which contribute to improved fuel consumption when…
