Qatar Airways resurrects plans for Bogotá and Caracas launch

Qatar Airways has resurrected plans to launch flights to Caracas, Venezuela, and Bogotá, Colombia, after an announcement to start the service last year were seemingly dropped.

On May 11, 2026, Qatar Airways confirmed that routes to the South American capitals would commence from July 22, 2026.

In January 2025, the Qatari flag carrier released a statement that a new Boeing 777-200LR service to Caracas and Bogotá would start early summer 2025.

At the time Qatar Airways said that the routes “embody our commitment to pioneering travel experiences and redefining global connectivity with our award-winning service”.

Qatar Airways will operate two weekly flights to Caracas and Bogotá which are designed to provide onward connections through Hamad International Airport (DOH) to key markets including Australia, China, Japan, Lebanon, South Korea, and the UAE.

“The service represents a significant milestone for the airline, as Qatar Airways becomes the first Gulf carrier to serve Venezuela, and the first airline to operate flights from the Middle East to Caracas and Bogotá. This expansion underscores the airline’s commitment, announced last year, to strengthening global connectivity for the region,” said a spokesperson for Qatar Airways.

The flights will connect Doha to Bogotá El Dorado International Airport (BOG) and then continue to Caracas Simon Bolivar International Airport (CCS) with the return flight from Venezuela operating non-stop to back to the UAE.

Departing every Wednesday and Sunday, the flights are as follows:

  • Doha (DOH) to Bogotá (BOG) – Flight QR783: Departure 07:30; Arrival 16:05
  • Bogotá (BOG) to Caracas (CCS) – Flight QR783: Departure 17:35; Arrival 20:40
  • Caracas (CCS) to Doha (DOH) – Flight QR783 Departure 22:40; Arrival 19:55 +1

The addition of Caracas and Bogotá marks the 15th and 16th destinations in the Americas served by Qatar Airways. The airline began serving South America in 2010 with its inaugural flight to Brazil’s São Paulo.
