Singapore Airlines is planning to expand its European network, with additional frequencies to several key destinations and a new service to Madrid launching in October 2026.
The airline announced on May 8, 2026 that it will increase flights to Manchester Airport (MAN), Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP), Munich Airport (MUC), and London Gatwick Airport (LGW), in response to strong demand.
It will also begin five-times-weekly services to Madrid Barajas Airport (MAD) via Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) starting October 26, 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.
Madrid will become Singapore Airlines’ 15th destination in Europe and its second in Spain.
What’s changing in Singapore Airline’s European routes
Starting July 13, 2026, Singapore Airlines will increase its Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) to Manchester flights from five times weekly to a daily service.
From October 25, 2026, flights to Milan will go from four times a week to daily, while London Gatwick services will increase from three times a week to daily. The Gatwick expansion will give the airline two daily services to the airport, and combined with four daily flights to London Heathrow Airport (LHR), a total of six daily services to London.
The airline will also launch a new three-times-weekly service to Munich starting October 26, 2026, bringing it to a total of 10 weekly flights to the German city.
New Madrid route via Barcelona
The new Madrid service will operate five times weekly, with flights routed through Barcelona. Singapore Airlines noted that it will restructure its current twice-weekly Singapore-Barcelona services to accommodate the new route. The existing three-times-weekly Singapore-Milan-Barcelona service will be cancelled from October 27.
The inaugural flight, SQ388, is scheduled to depart Singapore at 23:30 local time on October 26, 2026, arriving in Barcelona at 06:40 local time the following day. After a one-hour layover, the flight continues to Madrid, arriving at 08:50 local time
The return flight departs Madrid at 10:00 local time, then stops in Barcelona, finally arriving in Singapore the following morning.
Singapore Airlines will operate its Airbus A350-900 long-haul variant on the route, configured with 253 seats across three classes: 42 in Business, 24 in Premium Economy, and 187 in Economy.
Europe remains a priority for Singapore Airlines
According to Dai Haoyu, Senior Vice President of Marketing Planning at Singapore Airlines, Europe continues to be an important market for the carrier.
“We are seeing strong demand for travel to Europe, and increasing frequencies to key destinations such as Manchester, Milan, Munich, and London Gatwick in response,” Dai said. “Madrid is also an increasingly popular tourist destination, as well as a financial and business hub. These new services will give our customers more choice and greater value when planning their travel.”
Tickets for the new Madrid service will go on sale from June 2026.
