Etihad, the only UAE carrier with pets in cabin, launches promotional rate

Etihad Airways is offering a limited-time discount on its Pets Onboard service, giving travelers a chance to fly with their cats and dogs at a reduced rate through the end of May 2026.

The Abu Dhabi based carrier is the only airline in the UAE that allows pets to travel inside the cabin with their owners. Other airlines in the region require animals to be transported within cargo holds.

Until May 31, 2026, passengers who book and travel with pets will pay USD 399 per flight segment. The offer applies to small cats and dogs traveling in an approved carrier.

In economy class, the pet carrier can be placed under the seat in front of the passenger. Travelers who would like more room have the option to purchase an extra seat for their pet.

In business class, pets are automatically given their own seat. According to Etihad, this setup provides the space and comfort animals need during the flight while keeping them close to their owners.

Why Etihad is doubling down on pet travel

The airline notes that this service comes in response to growing demand from travelers who consider their pets part of the family and want to avoid separating from them during flights.

Arik De, Etihad’s Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer, said that the goal is to reduce stress for both pets and passengers.

“For many of our guests, pets are part of the family, and we understand how important it is to travel together. The service allows small cats and dogs to travel in the aircraft cabin alongside their owners, helping reduce stress for pets while allowing guests to keep their pets close throughout the journey,” De said. “By making our Pets Onboard service more accessible, we hope to welcome even more guests travelling with their pets while continuing to offer the warmth, care and peace of mind that define the Etihad experience.”

Etihad has dedicated teams to help passengers prepare for travel with pets, including the coordination of documentation and other requirements before departure. More details on the service are available on the airline’s website.
