First Starlink connected Virgin Atlantic A350 to roll out ahead of schedule

The first Virgin Atlantic aircraft connected with Starlink Wi-Fi will roll out ahead of schedule after the carrier accelerated the installation process.

On April 12, 2026, Virgin Atlantic said the first Airbus A350 with Starlink will enter service in May 2026, flying from London-Heathrow Airport (LHR) to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York.

The transatlantic carrier added that its entire A350 fleet will have Starlink connectivity by early summer.

When Virgin Atlantic announced in July 2026, that it was the first UK airline to commit to free, fleet-wide Starlink Wi-Fi, the company initially said fleet installation would begin in Q3 2026 and be completed by the end of 2027.

In its latest update, Virgin said that its Boeing 787 aircraft will join the Starlink rollout in the second half of 2026, with fleet connectivity expected to reach two- thirds by the end of 2026. Airbus A330neo installations are anticipated to be completed in 2027.

“We were the first UK airline to announce free, fleet-wide Starlink Wi-Fi, and from May, we’re starting to deliver it for our customers. As the rollout gathers pace, we plan to deliver 100% Starlink connectivity across our fleet in 2027, as part of our focus on creating a brilliantly connected experience,” said Juha Jaervinen, Chief Customer Officer at Virgin Atlantic.

He added: “Together with Starlink, we’re setting a new standard for connectivity in the skies, with fast, free, high-speed WiFi available from the moment customers step onboard. It’s all part of creating a truly connected, ‘home away from home’ experience, giving customers the freedom to use their time onboard exactly as they choose, whether that’s staying close to work, to plans, or to the people who matter most.”

The announcement on July 8, 2025, to install Starlink came as Virgin unveiled plans to transform its long-haul services on. These include the renovation of key lounges and the updating of premium cabins.

For the first time, the airline’s signature Retreat Suite (available on its A350-1000s and A330-900s) will be introduced to the 787-9 fleet, with eight seats available in every Upper Class cabin.

Economy cabins on the Dreamliners will reduce from 192 to 127. The new cabins will be rolling out from 2028 and will be completed by 2030.
