Bombardier delivers first Global 8000 to NetJets

Bombardier has handed over the first Global 8000 business jet to NetJets, marking the fleet launch customer’s entry into operation of the type more than three years after placing the initial order.

The delivery took place at Bombardier’s Laurent Beaudoin Completion Centre in Montreal, in front of hundreds of employees, NetJets leadership, and special guests.

NetJets intends to build a fleet of 24 Global 8000 aircraft and will work with Bombardier to upgrade its entire in-service Global 7500 fleet to the newer type. The operator also holds options that could be exercised progressively over the coming years.

The handover to NetJets is the second customer delivery of the Global 8000 overall. The type entered service in December 2025, when Canadian businessman Patrick Dovigi took delivery of the first aircraft at Bombardier’s assembly center in Mississauga, Ontario, with the jet to be operated under Chartright Air Group.

Performance and certification

The Global 8000 has a top speed of Mach 0.95, a range of 8,000 nautical miles, and what Bombardier says is the lowest cabin altitude in business aviation production at 2,691 feet at cruise altitude, making it the fastest civil aircraft since the Concorde. It is powered by two GE Passport 20 engines and features a four-zone cabin configuration.

The aircraft received Transport Canada type certification in November 2025, FAA approval in December, and EASA certification in January 2026.

NetJets and the Global 8000 order

NetJets, a Berkshire Hathaway company founded in 1964 as Executive Jet Airways, is the world’s largest fractional jet ownership operator. The company placed its initial Global 8000 order at EBACE in 2022, committing to four firm aircraft and converting eight existing orders for other Bombardier types.

Bombardier has also confirmed at least two other Global 8000 customers. Charter operator Comlux is scheduled to receive its aircraft in 2026.
