Emirates has confirmed its final flight out of Algeria in a post on social media, without providing a clear explanation for the development.
On February 13, 2026, Emirates announced that “currently” its last scheduled flight will depart from Algerian capital Algiers on February 3, 2027.
The airline added that flights to and from Algeria are still operating as scheduled and that services between the two countries remain unaffected for now.
While no definitive reason for the decision was disclosed, the move comes days after Algeria began the process of cancelling an air services agreement (ASA) with the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
On February 8, 2026, the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) issued a statement after being notified that Algeria was terminating the ASA signed between the two nations in 2013.

“Following the notification from the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria concerning the cessation of the Air Services Agreement between the two countries, the GCAA clarified that this measure falls within the mechanisms stipulated under international agreement frameworks and doesn’t result in any immediate impact on air traffic operations,” the GCAA said in its statement.
The GCAA stressed that the agreement remains in force during the legally mandated notice period, with flight operations between the two countries continuing as normal.
On February 13, 2026, while apologizing to customers for the inconvenience, Emirates advised passengers that they should proceed with their bookings and travel plans as normal.
“Emirates will fully comply with any instructions or directives issued by government authorities and will provide timely updates to its customers, employees and partners should circumstances change,” the airline wrote in its statement.
Recently, there have been rising tensions in diplomatic circles between Algeria and the UAE.
