EGYPTAIR’s first of 16 Airbus A350s arrives in Cairo, ushers in new era

EGYPTAIR’s first of 16 new A350 widebody aircraft has arrived in Cairo, Egypt, after departing Airbus’ famous Toulouse facility in France on a four-hour flight.

February 9, 2026, marks the first time that EGYPTAIR has received an Airbus A350 after placing an initial order for 10 aircraft on November 14, 2023, at Dubai Airshow.

On June 18, 2025, at the Paris Air Show EGYPTAIR increased its order for an additional six A350-900s as “part of its expansion strategy to meet growing demand for air travel”.

While EGYPTAIR already operates a fleet of eight A320neos, seven A321neos and 11 A330 family aircraft, including five A330-200P2F, the A350 arrival ushers in a new era of non‑stop routes to key destinations including the US West Coast and North Asia.

Powered by Trent XWB-84 engines, the A350-900, registered SU-GGE, continues a more than 55-year relationship between EGYPTAIR and Rolls-Royce which began with turboprops.

“We congratulate EgyptAir on the delivery of its first Airbus A350-900 and on this important step in the airline’s long-haul expansion. The introduction of the Trent XWB-powered A350 builds on that long-standing partnership and reflects EgyptAir’s continued focus on operational excellence as it continues to grow its widebody fleet,” said Omar Al Adib, Senior Vice President of Civil Aerospace at Rolls-Royce.

The new aircraft features a two-class configuration, comprising 30 business class suites with direct aisle access and 310 economy class seats.

At the Paris Air Show last year Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business said: “This is the second time EGYPTAIR has placed an order for the A350, and the decision is testament to the value the aircraft provides. The A350 is set to be a pillar in EGYPTAIR’s journey, and we look forward to these aircraft playing a pivotal role in the airline’s continued success, growth and decarbonisation ambition.”
