Etihad Airways has announced it will launch the first-ever nonstop flights between Luxembourg and Abu Dhabi, marking a milestone as the first Middle Eastern carrier to serve the country.

The service is scheduled to begin on 29 October 2026, with three weekly direct flights between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Luxembourg Airport (LUX). Etihad will operate the route using its A321LR aircraft, which is designed for long-range efficiency while offering a premium three-class cabin. The aircraft features First Suites and lie-flat Business seats, all with direct aisle access, alongside a modern Economy cabin with generous legroom, 4K touchscreen entertainment, Bluetooth pairing, and high-speed Wi-Fi.

“For the first time, Luxembourg will be directly connected to the Middle East, with Etihad as the only airline offering a nonstop link to Abu Dhabi. This route is about more than connectivity – it is about building new bridges between Europe and the UAE, unlocking opportunities for business, tourism, and cultural exchange,” Antonoaldo Neves, the CEO of Etihad Airways, said in the statement.

Neves added that the service is timed to serve both business and leisure travelers. Business passengers will benefit from schedules aligned with corporate needs between Luxembourg, a key European financial center, and Abu Dhabi. Flights are scheduled to depart from Abu Dhabi in the early hours, arriving in Luxembourg in the morning. Return services will depart from Luxembourg in the late morning, arriving in Abu Dhabi in the evening.

Etihad’s Airbus A321LR has quickly become a cornerstone of the airline’s medium-haul growth strategy. The first A321LR was delivered in mid-2025 and entered commercial service on 1 August 2025, initially operating between Abu Dhabi and Phuket.

Originally planned as a fleet of 20 aircraft leased through AerCap, Etihad has expanded its commitments to 30 A321LRs, including ten on direct order from Airbus. Deliveries are still ongoing, scheduled through 2026 and beyond.
