Gulfstream’s new G300 super-midsize jet completes maiden flight

On December 5, 2025, Gulfstream announced that its new G300 super mid-sized jet had completed its maiden flight.

This first flight took place in Israel, where Gulfstream plans to produce this model of aircraft in partnership with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).

The G300 test aircraft took off from Ben Gurion International Airport at 8:05 am local time and landed at the same airport approximately two hours later. During the flight, it reached an altitude of 30,000 feet (9,144 meters) and sustained a speed of Mach 0.75 for a period of 25 minutes.

Prior to performing the flight test, the prototype underwent more than 2,000 hours of testing on the ground. The flight test program will continue with the addition of two additional test aircraft in the near future.

Gulfstream first unveiled the G300, which is set to replace the G280, at an event in Savannah, Georgia, in September 2025.

Powered by Honeywell HTF7250G engines, the G300 is able to carry up to 10 passengers over 3,600 nautical miles (6,667 km) when sustaining speeds of Mach 0.80. This range is reduced to 3,000 nm (5,556 km) if cruising at the faster speed of Mach 0.84.

According to Gulfstream, the G300 has the largest interior and lowest cabin altitude – that is, the altitude at which a passenger would experience that same air pressure as if they were standing on the ground – in its category.

This model is also fitted with a plasma air ionization system, a Harmony Flight Deck and Gulfstream’s proprietary Predictive Landing Performance System.

Remarkably, while the G300 is a new aircraft type, it is not the first time the US executive jet manufacturer has used this designation for one of its models. From 2002 until 2004, when production stopped, Gulfstream used the same name for a short-range version of its G-IV jet.

The new G300 is to be assembled by IAI in Israel and then outfitted at Gulfstream’s completion center in Dallas, Texas.
