Vietnam Airlines has announced a new route that will further connect Asia Pacific to the Nordic. Starting December 15, 2025, the carrier will launch its first-ever direct flights between Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) and Copenhagen Airport (CPH), the first nonstop connection between Vietnam and Denmark.
The new route, operating three times a week on the carrier’s fleet of Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, marks more than just another line on the airline’s route map; it’s also Vietnam’s first direct air bridge to Scandinavia.
For Vietnamese travelers, this route eliminates the Tokyo, Bangkok, or Middle Eastern stopovers that have long complicated trips to Scandinavia. For Nordic visitors, it’s a straight shot to pho and pristine beaches without the usual connection headaches.

Flights will depart Ho Chi Minh City late evening on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, landing in Copenhagen early the next morning after roughly 12 hours of flight time.
Return flights leave Copenhagen midday on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and touch down in Vietnam after midnight.
The Dreamliner configuration offers up to 300 seats across business class (with those coveted reverse herringbone seats), premium economy, and economy. Vietnam Airlines said that this is enough to carry an expected 20,000 passengers in the first year alone.
The new route announcement came just after Vietnam Airlines inked four partnership agreements with Danish organizations. The carrier struck deals with Greater Copenhagen Connected for tourism promotion, Copenhagen Airport for service enhancement, and tour operators Albatros Travel and Nordic Travel.
Working alongside Vietnamese tourism giant Saigontourist, the companies are crafting packages designed to lure Danes to Vietnam’s beaches and street food scenes while helping Vietnamese travelers discover Scandinavian saunas and the northern lights.
“Copenhagen serves as a gateway to the wider Scandinavian region,” explained Pham Thi Nguyet, Vietnam Airlines’ Director of Marketing and Product Sales.
Nguyet added that the route is a strategic choice as the Danish capital’s position makes it an ideal jumping-off point for exploring all four Nordic countries.
Nguyen Tien Hoang, who heads Vietnam Airlines’ operations in France and Europe, sees it as a crucial piece in the carrier’s European puzzle.
“Copenhagen will be an important gateway to connect the economy, culture and politics between Vietnam and destinations in Northern Europe,” he said.
