United Airlines has staked its claim to being the true US flag carrier by announcing a raft of new European destinations launching in Summer 2026.

On October 9, 2025, United Airlines said it was “leading the way with the most destinations across the Atlantic than any US carrier” as it confirmed four new routes to Croatia, Italy, Scotland and Spain.

From Summer 2026, United will begin nonstop flights from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Split in Croatia, Bari in Italy, Glasgow in Scotland and Santiago de Compostela in Spain.

“United has an unmatched international network, and we pride ourselves on connecting our customers to unique, trendsetting destinations no other U.S. airline serves,” said Patrick Quayle, Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances.

He added: “With the addition of these new flights and the return of all of our new routes from last year, United now flies to 46 cities across the Atlantic – more than any other airline – and is the clear flag carrier of the U.S.”

In total, United will be offering nearly 3,000 weekly international roundtrips in Summer 2026, including all nine destinations that were launched during Summer 2025.

Additionally, United is adding its first service between Washington-Dulles (IAD) and Reykjavik, Iceland, a new nonstop year-round daily service from Newark/New York to Seoul, South Korea, and four additional weekly flights between Newark/New York and Tel Aviv, Israel.

Split, Croatia

United will launch its new summer routes with the only nonstop service between Split and the US on April 30, 2026. Flights will operate three times a week on a Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.

Bari, Italy

Starting on May 1, 2026, United will be the only US airline offering nonstop service between Bari and the US. The new service to Bari will operate four times a week on a Boeing 767-300ER aircraft from Newark/New York.

Glasgow, Scotland

United will be the only US airline offering nonstop service between the US and Glasgow. The daily seasonal service from Newark/New York will begin on May 8, 2026, and provide a nonstop connection on a Boeing 737-MAX 8 aircraft.

Santiago de Compostela, Spain

With three-times weekly seasonal flights from Newark/New York starting May 27, 2026, United will be the only carrier to offer nonstop service between the US and Santiago de Compostela. The flight will operate on a Boeing 737-MAX 8 aircraft.

Reykjavik, Iceland

Starting from May 21, 2025, United will offer daily service between Reykjavik and Washington Dulles. The daily flight will operate on a Boeing 757-200.

Seoul, South Korea

Next summer, United will be the only US airline offering nonstop flights between Newark/New York and South Korea. The daily flights begin September 4, 2026, on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

Tel Aviv, Israel

On March 28, 2026, United will add a third flight to Tel Aviv from Newark/New York operating on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The four-time weekly service builds on the existing double daily Newark-Tel Aviv service.
