Saudi Arabian low-cost carrier flyadeal has announced the launch of daily flight services to Damascus International Airport (DAM), Syria’s capital city.

flyadeal now operates a daily connection between the Kingdom and Syria, beginning with three weekly flights from the Saudi port city of Jeddah on October 1, 2025, followed by the inaugural service from capital city Riyadh the next day, with four weekly flights.

flyadeal’s leadership team, headed by Chief Executive Officer Steven Greenway, joined airport officials at King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) in Jeddah for the flight launch ceremony.

Damascus welcomed inaugural flight F3 741 from Jeddah with a ceremonial water cannon tribute.

“It’s a momentous occasion to finally launch our Damascus flights from two gateway cities in the Kingdom, long needed to help the many Syrians to travel back to their homeland and reunite with family and friends,” Greenway said.

“With over two million Syrians living and working in the Kingdom, the restoration of air links provides great relief and will support the economic redevelopment of Syria as the country embarks on rebuilding its infrastructure attracting much-needed investment from the international community,” Greenway added.

In an exclusive Executive Spotlight interview with AeroTime in May 2025, Greenway said that US President Trump’s visit to the Middle East paved the way to something positive in terms of travel in the region, particularly to Syria.

Greenway told AeroTime: “Interestingly, what happened for us from President Trump’s visit was something that no one expected, [and that] was the normalization of a relationship with Syria. So sanctions were lifted and so forth.”
