Wizz Air opens new base in Yerevan, Armenia, with eight new routes to Europe

Wizz Air has inaugurated a new base at Yerevan Zvartnots International Airport (EVN), serving Armenia’s capital.

The ultra-low-cost carrier, which already links Yerevan to several European destinations, will base two Airbus A321neo aircraft at its new Armenian base. Around 50 pilots and crew will be assigned to the new base, which, the airline estimates, will create another 800 direct and indirect jobs.

The official inauguration of the new base was marked by the start of services to Naples (NAP), Italy, on October 1, 2025. This route launch will be followed throughout the rest of October by the progressive rollout of new services from Yerevan to Bari (BRI) in Italy, Bucharest-Otopeni (OTP) in Romania, Hamburg (HAM) and Memmingen (FMM) in Germany, Paris Beauvais (BVA) and Nice (NCE) in France, Paphos, (PFO) in Cyprus, and Prague (PRG) in the Czech Republic.

The existing service to Dortmund (DTM) will also be increased to four per week, from the current two.

On the flip side, services to Sofia (SOF), Bulgaria, will be discontinued on October 26, 2025. In September 2025, Yerevan also lost the nonstop route Wizz Air operated to Abu Dhabi (AUH) when the carrier decided to close down its subsidiary in the United Arab Emirates.

On September 30, 2025, Wizz Air also started operating at Gyumri Shirak Airport (LWM), a dual use civilian-military airport located near Yerevan, which acts as a secondary gateway to the Armenian capital. Wizz Air operates a twice weekly service between Gyumri and Larnaca (LCA) in Cyprus.

In total, Wizz Air plans to end the year having carried a total of 1.2 million passengers to and from Armenia.
