Air France-KLM and SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) have announced a major expansion of their existing commercial partnership, aimed at further improving connectivity and enhancing the travel experience for passengers traveling between Scandinavia and the United States.
Revealing the new tie-up on September 23, 2025, Air France will add its code to SAS-operated non-stop transatlantic flights. According to an Air-France KLM Group statement, “This new codeshare agreement will provide customers with seamless access to a wide range of destinations across the United States via key Scandinavian hubs.
“This strategic step reinforces the commitment of both partners to deliver greater convenience and improved loyalty benefits to their respective customers,” the statement added.
The Air France-KLM Group currently owns 19.9% of SAS, which it acquired after SAS emerged from Chapter 11 restructuring in late 2024. Air France-KLM also recently disclosed its intention to acquire a majority shareholding by the second half of 2026, ultimately resulting in SAS becoming a subsidiary of the Air France-KLM Group.
The new codeshare routes will include flights from Copenhagen International Airport (CPH) to Atlanta (ATL), Boston (BOS), Chicago (ORD), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), New York-Newark (EWR), New York-JFK (JFK), San Francisco (SFO), Seattle (SEA), and Washington, DC (IAD), which will carry the AF flight number prefix.
Additionally, flights from Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) to New York-Newark (EWR) and Miami (MIA) are included in the new deal, along with Oslo Airport (OSL) to New York-Newark (EWR) and New York-JFK (JFK).
This expanded codeshare partnership builds upon the success of the commercial cooperation between Air France-KLM and SAS initiated in 2024. It also enhances the relationship between Air France and SAS (both partners in the SkyTeam alliance), which was cemented with SAS joining the alliance in September 2024, of which Air France-KLM is a founding member.
This momentum continued earlier this year when SAS added its code on several long-haul international flights operated by Air France and KLM on departure from their respective hubs at Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Amsterdam Schiphol airports (AMS), alongside reciprocal codeshares on their respective European networks, which was launched in 2024.
Passengers flying on these codeshare routes can earn miles, as well as experience points (termed ‘XPs’ by the airlines) toward their Flying Blue status.
“This continued deepening of this commercial partnership underscores the airlines’ shared vision to offer passengers more choice and flexibility,” added the airline partners.
