Waldorf Astoria Scarlet Bay Coming To Porto Heli, Greece, In 2029

Hilton has just officially announced its newest luxury property that’s in the pipeline, and it’s one that I’m excited about.

Waldorf Astoria brand coming to Greece in 2029

The Waldorf Astoria Scarlet Bay is expected to open in 2029, as part of a management agreement with the UAE’s Royal Group Holding. The property will be located in the Peloponnese, on a peninsula in southern Greece, and it’ll be the brand’s first property in Greece.

The property will boast 121 guest rooms and suites, all with sea views, in addition to branded residences across 13 villas. The resort is also expected to feature indoor and outdoor pools, a wellness area (with a spa, gym, and tennis courts), and a kids club.

As far as dining goes, the property will feature Peacock Alley (the standard Waldorf Astoria bar concept), a signature restaurant, a beach club restaurant, a lobby lounge, and a coffee shop.

Details beyond that remain fairly limited, given that the hotel is still several years from opening. You can find some renderings of the resort below.

This is part of the continued development of Porto Heli

Interestingly, this press release only makes mention of how this property is in the Peloponnese, but doesn’t mention the location beyond that. So it’s interesting to note that this development is actually in Porto Heli.

For those not familiar, Porto Heli is a bit of an enclave for the Greek elite… think of like the Monaco of Greece. Currently, the region isn’t built up that much, since most people in the area have their own homes, and don’t want too many tourists. There is an Aman property — Amanzoe — which is very well regarded, but other than that, luxury lodging options are limited.

There’s now a bit of a push to develop Porto Heli, and the Waldorf Astoria is a big part of that project. Several months ago we had reason to believe that this Waldorf Astoria was being developed, but it’s now finally official. This isn’t the only luxury property being developed in the area — there are also plans for a Four Seasons.

This new Waldorf Astoria should be a great new option, and the renderings look gorgeous. I can’t wait to learn more, though admittedly we’ll have to be patient.

This property will be in the same area as Amanzoe

Bottom line

A Waldorf Astoria is planned for Porto Heli, Greece, and it’s expected to open in 2029. Porto Heli is on a peninsula in southern Greece, in the Peloponnese. While the area doesn’t have many luxury properties right now, that’s starting to change. Not only are there plans for a Waldorf Astoria, but we’re also going to see the opening of a Four Seasons.

What do you make of plans for the Waldorf Astoria Scarlet Bay?
