BermudAir is expanding its network with the launch of new nonstop flights to 
Newark Liberty International Airport and 
LaGuardia Airport later this month. These new routes complement the airline’s existing service to Westchester County Airport in White Plains. The expanded schedule will provide travelers with a choice of seven weekly flights to Bermuda from one of the three New York-area airports.
The Bermudan flag carrier was only founded two years ago, but has expanded rapidly and will connect its primary base at L.F. Wade International Airport (BDA) in St. George’s, Bermuda to 11 North American destinations this winter. Starting in December, it will also launch a subsidiary to provide three new routes from a second Caribbean destination.
BermudAir’s ‘New York Triangle’
BermudAir began flying to Westchester County Airport in August 2023, one of the airline’s three inaugural services upon its launch. The airport in White Plains is more convenient for New York travelers living north of Manhattan, or those flying from Connecticut or upstate New York. Adam Scott, CEO of BermudAir, said at the time that “If you’re in northern New York City or Connecticut, and fly with us out of Westchester, you can be in Bermuda by the time you’d otherwise be checking in at JFK.”
However, in August the airline announced that it planned to increase its New York-area service with the addition of the major hubs of LaGuardia and Newark. Hidden in the details was the fact that its flights to Westchester would quietly cease on October 24. That caused something of an uproar on social media, as travelers bemoaned the loss of the convenient, smaller airport.
Smith says “our most loyal and frequent travelers spoke up, and we listened,” and BermudAir has now chosen to offer service to all three New York-area airports throughout the winter. He even had a clever play on the ‘Bermuda Triangle‘ legend when announcing the network changes:
“Adding service to LaGuardia and Newark is a significant milestone for BermudAir. With the launch of our ‘New York Triangle’, we’re offering nonstop flights to the three most convenient New York City area airports, providing more flexibility and convenient access to and from Bermuda.”
The Expanding BermudAir Network
Bermuda is just a two-hour flight from much of the US east coast, and with its vibrant culture and white sand beaches, makes for an ideal sunny getaway. But the island also has a thriving financial services sector, and plenty of residents eager to travel to the US and Canada for work, pleasure and to see family, so the airline is well positioned to tap into year-round demand.
As a result, BermudAir’s winter network has a lot of continuity with its summer schedule. The carrier will use its two Embraer E175s and two Embraer E190s to fly to eleven destinations across the US and Canada, with at least twice-weekly frequencies for all. The only changes are that the current seasonal services to Charleston and Hartford will be dropped in favor of the new nonstops to New York.

Despite still being a young airline, BermudAir now accounts for nearly half of all air traffic for Bermuda. The island’s only long-haul service is a daily Boeing 777 flight with 
British Airways(5x weekly in winter), while five US and Canadian carriers have limited routes to BDA. Of its eleven routes, BermudAir only faces competition on four of them:
- Air Canada: Toronto and Montreal
- JetBlue: Boston
- United Airlines: Newark
A New Subsidiary Based In Anguilla
BermudAir has also announced the airline’s first major expansion beyond Bermuda to Anguilla, a sister British Overseas Territory in the Leeward Islands. To do so, it is launching AnguillAir, a subsidiary brand that will use an Embraer E190 to serve Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport, the only airport on the small island.
AnguillAir will begin operating right before the holiday season, starting three new routes as follows:
- Baltimore: Twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays from December 19 through May 25.
- Boston: Twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays from December 17 to May 23.
- Newark: Twice weekly on Sundays and Thursdays from December 18 to May 24.
The new service will significantly expand connectivity for Anguilla. Historically, the island was primarily connected to Puerto Rico’s Luis Munoz Marin International Airport where travelers could connect onward to the rest of the world. In 2021, 
American Airlines debuted Anguilla’s first (and until now, only) nonstop to the US mainland with a twice-weekly E175 service to Miami.
