The Bombardier Global 7500 Has Now Set 150 Speed Records

Since first flying back in November of 2016 and entering service just over two years later, the Bombardier Global 7500 has continued to make headlines as the world’s fastest private jet, and the fastest civilian aircraft since Concorde. Such are its exploits that the jet has now set 150 speed records.

This milestone achievement was announced by Bombardier earlier today, as the Canadian planemaker gears up for the introduction of the new Global 8000 variant. As for the existing Global 7500, the jet really is an aircraft that can do it all, as it combines the triple threat of range, speed, and capacity.

150 Not Out

In a statement released by Bombardier on October 2 of 2025, the Canadian aerospace giant confirmed that the Global 7500 private jet now has its 150th city-pair speed record under its belt. This, the firm notes, makes it the “most-decorated business aircraft type of all time,” and sets a strong precedent for the upcoming Global 8000 model, which will enter service later this year with a top speed of Mach 0.94.

Of the 150 city-pair speed records that the Bombardier Global 7500 has set to date, the manufacturer notes that 20 of the pairs were linked at an average speed of more than 1,000 km/h (540 knots or 621.4 mph). These high-speed credentials, Bombardier says, underline the 7500’s excellence in “bringing passengers to their destinations in record time.” The planemaker also notes that it has lots to look forward to:

“The unique attributes of the Global 7500 aircraft will soon be enhanced with the introduction of the Global 8000 aircraft. Bombardier’s flagship for a new era is anticipated to have an industry-leading range of 8,000 nautical miles (14,816 km) and a top speed of Mach 0.94, making it the ultimate all-in-one business aircraft.”

Where Has The Global 7500 Been Setting Records?

The jet has a relatively high standard capacity of 19 passengers and two pilots, although, for longer-range operations, Bombardier proudly notes that, in a lower-density eight-seat configuration, the Global 7500 can fly for up to 7,700 NM (14,300 km) at a time. This has been a key reason behind its ability to connect so many city pairs in record time, as there are so many that it can link by virtue of its range.

With this in mind, it is unsurprising to see that the city pairs that the Bombardier Global 7500 has achieved speed records on are so widespread. Indeed, the jet has made the fastest crossing on routes like “Tokyo to Los Angeles, Toronto to Paris, New York to London, and Hong Kong to Montreal.”

Separately from these impressive achievements, the jet has also flown from London City (LCY) to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), marking the former’s longest-ever private flight, as well as recording business aviation’s longest-ever non-stop sector. This saw it fly directly from Sydney to Detroit, over a distance of 8,225 nautical miles (15,232.7 km) that far surpassed its baseline range specifications.

The Aircraft Is Changing Business Aviation Forever

Bombardier is positively glowing when it comes to the range and speed records that its Global 7500 is setting, with Jean-Christophe Gallagher, its EVP of Aircraft Sales, saying that the jet “continues to redefine what is possible in business aviation.” The jet’s top speed comes in at Mach 0.925.

Gallagher adds that the plane’s performance is also helping to build and retain commercial relationships, saying that “our customers count on us to deliver a business tool with the highest standards in luxury, speed, and reliability, and the Global 7500 overachieves on all fronts.” It also delivers a smooth ride, thanks to a unique ‘Smooth Flex’ wing design that is built to maximize the aircraft’s aerodynamic efficiency.

A key factor of the jet’s achievements that Bombardier’s EVP of Aircraft Sales has been keen to point out is the fact that “many of these records have been set with passengers on board in varying conditions and airports.” This, he says, “[makes] these achievements even more meaningful and reaching this pinnacle more remarkable.” Following the Global 8000’s first flight in May, there’s a lot to look forward to!
